I'm thinking about getting new Video Card for PES2008 and I could use some advice.

Should I get 8800GTX or 8800GTS?
Will 8800GTS be enough to play PES2008 in high with top resolution?

Thanks!

Whats the difference between GTS and GTX? im getting a 8500GT 512mb?

with the combination of a decent CPU (Core2duo 6xxx series) and a fair amount of RAM (2 Gigs would be fair), the game would run like a dream on 1280x1024 High detail.. however, if you`d like to play the game on a big monitor on high resolution like 1600x1200 or higher, you`ll need a graphics card with more than 320 mb..

Thank you Theodorakis,

but are you talking about 8800GTX or 8800GTS?
(8800GTX is about $540 and 8800GTS is about $290)

I have 8800 GTS 640 mb...but...8800 GTX 768 mb ,believe me, is muuuuuccchhhh more better.. only 8800 gtx Ultra is better than it, but not much.. so buy 8800 gtx 768 mb, my favourite video card ;)

....make a note also that these cards are DX10. A format that of this time is deemed useless. You don't need a DX10 card. Save some money son. I have a BFG 7800GS OC. Plays every game under the sun on the best specs. It's 100's of £'s cheaper than than the DX 10 cards.

What u want 2 do is wait until DX10 is the norm and then buy the 8800 cards. by that time the cards will be MUCH MUCH cheaper.

It's the same as those quad core CPUS cos nothing in the world can utilise them. No point in them whatsoever. Dual core is exactly the same speed....at the moment in time.

Well the 8800 GT is coming out on the 29th estimated at around $250 (yes, american currency) and look at its performance with Half Life 2. Also here is a table comparing the different versions. Hope this helps.

:D These cards are only directx10 on VISTA !!!!!! Cause there is no DX10 on XP !!! And that's much more better to buy great video card and play the games you want to, not slow and old video, that gonna cost less money(like 7800 Gs), but will not gonna be normally playble and willl be with ''no future''- cause you can't play Crysis even on medium detail with 7800 gs !!! maybe even on low it will run badly ;) !!!!!!!!

Complete missinformation,

I have a 7800GTX and play on 1680x1050 on high with 4xAA 8xAF flawlessly.

Stock AMD4000+ before you ask as well !

Why would you want VISTA?? It's bugged to bits and incompatable with just about everything.

Look at the steam survey http://www.steampowered.com/status/survey.html.

90.33% of people have XP and only 7.99% have VISTA. The software companies are not daft. If they only release games for DX10 and Vista then they are going to lose a fortune. They are not going to release games for a MINORITY market.

Also if DX10 and VISTA are that good then why are Microsoft expected to release a VISTA replacement in 2009? Here's the facts ... http://www.vnunet.com/vnunet/news/2174703/vista-replacement-scheduled

XP and DX9 are going to be safe for a very long time!

Maaannnnn... !!!! I told the same-maybe i wrote not correct, but i told, that dx10 is ment to be on Vista, but on XP there is DX9 only :) ;) !!!

I've read up to here, and i've come to realise how backward minded some people still are. Now i'm an overclock maniac, i play DX10 Games and DX9 Games, and i work at a hardware store, and i'm starting programming next Year in Curtin University of Technology. Your arrogance is unbelievable mate.

Number 1 - Quad-Core CPU's are fully utilizied by Windows Vista, especially 64-Bit editions. YES FULLY !!! Not even partly utalized.

Number 2 - DX10 Games are becoming widespread, such as Crysis (**Which by the way, fully uses ur Quad-Core processor**)

Number 3 - DX10 Cards run DX9 games at much faster rates, due to Shader Operations being rendered upto 20x Faster then DX9 cards, a much higher memory bandwidth, and higher pixel fill & texture fill rates. The entire pipeline layout is different, and DX10 cards have much higher raster operations being done.

Dude go for the 8800GTX its worth it. But thats only if ur an nVidia FAN ... I'm currently running the game on HIGH at 1280*720 and it runs perfectly fine using a 2900XT, no lag spikes during replays or anything like that :D

The 2900XT performs better then a 8800GTS, but is less powerful then an 8800GTX, and costs allot less. so i'd get that if i was you :D You will be happy with the performance :D

Good luck with everything

really konami made the full version fully bugged. shame on konami

I would rather be backward minded than brain washed. Just because the bandwagon is there doesn't mean you have to jump on it.

Did you look at the Steam Survey link? Of course you did, because your NOT minded are you?. Why would software companies want to release games for a small minority. Not very profitable is it?

Vista is being replaced in 1 1/2 years time. Why would anyone want to spend £200+ installing it?

HALO 2. Why is there a patch out for XP users and DX9 users?

My DX9 card plays ALL the top games at full specs and i bet i paid 1/4 of what your card cost.

All i am saying is wait until DX10 gaming is the norm and then watch (and laugh) at the prices of cards plummet.

...oh there's the bandwagon.....nah give it a miss, for now.
