Selling Rooney is actually really tempting now, Kerlon is soon to be sold and if i stick to this 4-5-1 formation then Rooney doesn't really fit in and there is no way i'm going to change the system again to accomodate him, Van Noodlepie is still playing fantastically so if Vitti does flop then i've got him and Defoe to fall back on. Genro could be another possible signing at the end of the season.

I think i've actually made around £20mill+ profit a season so far (apart from first). See thats my Business Studies side shining through . And like a true businessman i'm incredibly reluctant to delve into that profit to sign a player for a ridiculously hight amount of money... i'm no Abramovich i tell you.

Sell him to Chelsea anyway, they'll happily overpay. I've seen Rooney move to Chelsea for 99m € in my game. (about 66m pounds)

Too bad. Speaking of Rooney, I've never really seen him be all that good in the game to be honest. He just doesn't score like I expect him to. Mind you I've only had him when I managed England, but it was 2010, so he should have been at his peak, and he just was not impressive.

After a shakey start the tactic is starting to work wonders Defoe upfront seems to be working for the moment. As expected Chelsea make a ridiculously high and complicated bid for Rooney, accepted and he's off there when the transfer window opens. May look at the possibility of having a go at signing Fred again, or possibly Genro aswell as Vitti.

Kerlon was pretty disappointing for me too, awesome looking stats but just didn't perform at all. He's off to Sevilla (i think) soon.

Get Fred. Genro is also great, but too bad about the natural fitness/stamina issue. If it wasn't for that, Genro would be my choice.

Btw, Vitti can be great as well. A lone attacker with low teamwork and work rate can sometimes break the whole defensive and score a goal. But this is very rare...you should check his Important Match ability (get FmScout ).

What stats would you say are most important for a lone striker? i've been concentrating on Finishing, Heading and Strength. Are there others i should consider more? Apart from just overall decent mental stats.

Depends. If you want through plays, I think Defoe is just right for that, because of his speed...If you want your complete lone striker, everything is important...but it's better to have a player with good strength, finishing and composure. He should also have good off the ball stat, for him to confuse marking in the opponent defensive line. Fred suits it very well. Never trained him, but with those stats, ouch, he has to be damn good.

By the way, take a look at Quavas Kirk, and see if he is any good there, because in my game, he is my current striker, and suits it very well...

had a bid of £50mill rejected for Fred I'm going to go a bit higher, but i'm reluctant to overpay.

Kirk doesn't really look THAT impressive in my game atm, he's at Betis, i doubt he's good enough for me imo.

this guys looks pretty decent, he's got the finishing, composure, off the ball, first touch, heading and technique...

Absolutely, Kerlon turned out to be one of the best strikers in the game.

Try to give 25% of next transfer buying Fred...or something, play with the transfer...

i personally think mental attributes are looked into too much, yea ok they DO have an influence on how the player performs etc. But it doesnt dictate it.

ie:

Darijo Srna - Determination: 10 - been a very solid squad player for me for the past 5 seasons.

Sanli Tuncay - Concentration: 9 - with that low a stat you'd expect him to be all over the place at top level, but every year he's either won or been runner up in player/midfielder of the year awards.

Cristiano Ronaldo - Teamwork: 9 - You all know how good CR is ingame.
