New shooting with powerbar!!!

I havent seen much of the powerbar in 2004 but in 2003 everything was the same, it was too specific like get a certain bar away and miss (penalties) and everyone seems to have it the same, so it is easy to master. I was just wondering about these ideas ive had to make each player different:

Idea 1

How about different size powerbars for players when shooting. Such as a player that doesnt have a powerful shot will have a smaller bar to restrict the player from hitting hard shots, and if he were to have full power in a smaller bar then it would most likely be a miss-hit. A player that has a powerful shot will have a bigger powerbar than normal so that u can see the difference and that if he reaches the same amount as the previous player it would be more contolled as it would not have filled his bar right up. I think this can make a differnce to strikers as someone like Michael Owen doesnt particularly have a powerful shot, but someone like Hasslebaink does. They play exactly the same in 2003 but if ther were to have different power bars u will have to use them difffrently like owen will have to get closer to goal were the other would have more long range srtikers. Could be partiuarly useful of freekicks as well.

(A players stat increased in power would increase his bar also)

Idea 2

Different rates for the power bar. A player that is a good finisher will have a more consistent rate at which the power goes up so you can finish easier with a better player. However a player that is not as comfortable in finishing (defender/ anchorman) will have different rates at which the power bar goes up. This could be normal, fast and slow or anywhere and should be inconsistent more if the stat is lower. This could work to effect if the player is through on goal and is not a great finisher you wouldnt know what to get from him so like the player, u are also unsure of what ur gonna get. The higher the stat the more conisitent it will be and the lower the more random the speeds are.

This can also come into effect on player morale as well. Were as a quality striker is through on goal or has had a bad game/low morale and u expect him to score then suddenly the bar shoots up and he ballons it over or goes up slowly and pea rolls to keeper. It could also come into effect on penalties as well

Idea 3

A mix of both were you have differnt size power bars with different rates that the bar goes up. would make it hard to get a hold of as well as it could never be mastered that well with a lesser player

Do u guys think any of these would be a good idea and which one is the better idea. I dont know if EA would ever incorporate anything like this but i think it would make it far more varied and the better players would stand out more.

i think a mix of both would be best. for example a player with good power stats but poor accuracy would have a bigger bar but it would fluctuate quicker. good accuracy, low power, smaller bar but it fluctuates slower. and obviously good power and accuracy would be bigger bar that fluctuates slower. just a thought.

Check the gameplay movies that has penalties. Notice the different powerbars for the players. I think this is exactly what you mean, but I'm not sure if this is implemented in regular play.
Still, a step in the right direction.

the curl of the ball was taken away too much in fifa 2003

all the shots were straight and fast
hopefully theyll vary it in 04

I think these are great ideas.

I would also suggest, in future years, two options to shoot - normal and lob. The lob power bar could be much like the free kick one in 2003 - a small coloured block would appear in the bar and you would have to stop the power up progess (like in the golf games.)

The better the player's goalscoring prowess, the larger the "hot spot." Defenders, for example, would have a very narrow spot. The size of the spot would also depend on the distance from goal and keepers position. In a one-on-one, it might be quite broad.

I think the lob option would be neat because it would difficult to power up and keep dribbling on the run.

One of the problems with hardcore FIFA gaming is that, after much play, you get the sense that you've exhausted the different types of goals you can score. This would open up hundreds of new variables for scoring.

Also, I think in 2005 they should concentrate on putting together 30-50 different volleying animats - back heels, chesting the ball in, swinging headers, diving headers, different rolling animations, scissor kicks, half-bikes. For a little extra work in the mo-cap studio they could extend the freshness of the game for a very long time.

i think, the bar and rates should be the same, but only the performance should vary
between 2 players, when u charge up the shot, the bar and speeds should be the same however the actual shot would be different. eg
a 80% charged up shot from a player with less shooting skills would differ from a 80% to a better shooter also charged at 80%, the charging up should be the same, but the actual shot should be different

nah, what they did in fifa 2003 is they made..lets say,,, safe zones and sweet spots, the green being safe zone and red being unsafe, and sweet spots for players were usually 1 or two before the last green, they made the safe zone and sweet spots bigger and larger for othe rplayers, but yes the shots did vary aswell, so it was a mix of both, but i think in fifa 2004 they should just vary the performance, not the actual bar, in 2003 they did both

The whole PK and free kick system needs rewriting, period.

Who the freak knows for a fact before they've kicked the ball that it's a 100% goal? In FIFA 2003 you could aim the ball and as long as you hit the green area you knew for a fact you've scored! How realistic is that?

There should be an element of surprise and luck thrown in, not be a case of who can stop a button at the exact point like in the EA golf titles.

I don't mind the power bar but having an exact indication of where to stop the marker to score is a bad idea. Besides, we all know that once you get past a certain speed in hitting the ball that it's all down to accuracy. You can hit the ball as hard as humanely possible and still score if you hit the ball accurately but in FIFA 2003, hitting the ball too hard more than often resulted in a miss! Again, unrealistic.

I prefered the old system where you pointed to a direction and hit the ball at a different strength depending on how long you held down the shoot button. You didn't know whether you'd score or not, just like real penalties.

Keep the power bar, lose the freaking sweet spot/green area and get rid of the cross hairs aiming thing. Make it realistic!

If you look on the movies, they did get rid of the green and red on the shooting bar. I think they did exactly what you posted.
