You guys need to make sure that the fifa08.exe file that you are patching is the original exe file that was installed from the cd/DVD...if its not then you cant patch the fifa08.exe....for those of us who are using fifa08 no dvd patch or no cd patch you might have to reinstall fifa or copy and paste the exe file from the fifa08 cd/dvd....

Was CONFIG.DAT the problem file again?? If so, then I'd reckon you are trying to use the wrong versions of the patches.

Grab a copy of File Master and use it to extract LOCALE.INI from your existing CONFIG.DAT and cut and paste the contents into this thread.

Hello to all of you out there... Sorry to be using this thread, but i couldn't start a new thread... Really sorry!
I have a rather strange problem... I think...
Well, when i choose to do a match with the World XI team, the players i selected in CM08 don't appear as i selected, i.e., some do appear, but in the wrong positions, some players that i didn't selected also appear, and when i reboot the game sometimes even the first 11 changes... Looks like it's on random mode or something.
The only thing it's right is the tactic... Also the numbers are wrong, they appear from 1 to 11, straight, and not as i selected in CM08... Already checked with DBMaster08, and everything checks right as in CM08... I don't have a Squad folder, already erased it...
So, i don't understand why the game doesn't read the fifa.db right...
I even installed the latest patch, that worked fine... My version is the Southern (Portugal).
I'm lost!!!(:/)

So i got FM 08 and found locale.ini from config.dat . So what do i need to do next. sorry, i dont understand all, im only 12 yrs old boy from finland back to work, so i open locale.ini or what? and then copy what locale.ini contains?

Your second statement explains the first. In order to have installed that patch you must have installed the first one and once you've done that the player details are read from PC_CL.BIN not from FIFA.DB (which is what you are modifying with CM). To the best of my knowledge the only way around that (other than reverting to the original version of the game as installed from DVD) is to use my EAFFPatchRollup utility to create a FIFA.DB with the patched rosters incorporated into it - see this post in the 'Players have dissapeared after uploading faces with CM08' thread (and a couple of later ones which give a little more detail on running the utility)

In pairs?? That is, apply the first NA patch then the second NA patch. If that doesn't work revert to the installed versions and try applying the first Nordic patch and then the second Nordic patch, and so on over each region. Do they all fail on the same file at the same percentage??

Extract LOCALE.INI to your My Documents, open it with Notepad, copy the contents to the clipbaord and then paste them into a reply to this message.

I'd still like to see the contents of your LOCALE.INI but the only reason I can think for ENG.DB failing to update is that there is more than one version of the English string database, perhaps an American English one as well as an English one?? In which case, it sounds like the UK patch is the wrong one for you (although I would have expected the first patch to fail too, since some of the contents of CONFIG.DAT ought to be wrong). Very odd

This means that you have the UK English version of the game, and therefore it is the UK patches that you need. Try the following process, exactly as described:

1. download both the UK patches to your My Documents, one will be called UK.ZIP and the other UK.EXE
2. reinstall FIFA 08 from the original DVD
3. unzip the UK.EXE from the first patch into the FIFA 08 directory in Program Files (probably CProgram Files\EA SPORTS\FIFA 08)
4. run the UK.EXE that you've just extracted
5. copy the UK.EXE that downloads as the second patch to the FIFA 08 directory under Program files, replacing the existing one
6. run the UK.EXE that you've just copied

If either patch fails then move the error dialog out of the way so that we can see the progress dialog and take a screenshot to post here.

Not necessarily. The Nordic version doesn't feature a Finnish language database, to be best of my knowledge, so it probably doesn't matter to the retailers which version they sell for use with the English language. It was probably whichever they could get hold of first, or cheapest

I don't think that a reinstall will damage your FIFA 08 data, but to be on the safe side just take a copy of the 'FIFA 08' directory in your My Documents structure (something that you ought to be doing on a regular basis anyway)

Ok, after that reinstall how can i import my Manager Mode back to game. I reinstalled my game something 2 weeks ago and Manager modes etc were lost of game but i still had manager mode folder in my computer...
