New Patch Not Working :mad:

EA released a new patch for the PC version of FIFA 08 and i downloaded the right patch for my version (NA version). But when i try to install it, there's an error message at 74% saying "Old file not found" and the file is ini_pc.big.
Please, help me out here. I can't play online 'cause of it. :(

You are trying to install a patch that's not for your version of the game.

Make sure the patch you download matches your version exactly.

Ex. If you have the Northic version, you need the nordic patch. It's stupid but EA does this a lot.

I tried all the patch versions, but none of them got till 1%. Except the NA version, 76%.
Could the reason be because i installed the NoDVD patch? I doubt it cause FIFA08.exe gets updated. Someone, please help. :(

It is nothing to do with the wrong patch - this seems to be a common complaint with the North American version, which updates files that the UK patch does not (including INI_PC.BIG which seems to be the sticking point for everyone)

I same as "parosh2cool" but I am 78%. My region fifa08 is USA,so patch#2 should be NA.exe, I try to other patch but still not working, I did not play around 1 week ago. Anyone know How to do, Please reply URGENTLY, I want to play.

I wouldn't use the FIFA 08 region as relating to the patch required. My UK DVD version, which has an SKU_NAME of EUK, also shows a region of USA in the registry.

Those of you having trouble with the NA version of the patch should take a look at the 'NA Patch 2 Error? No Fear, Solution Is Finally Here! ' thread on the official EA UK forums.

Those of you having trouble with other versions need to move the 'old file not found' dialog out of the way and check out the filename in the progress dialog underneath. If it is FIFA08.EXE then you either have the wrong version of the patch or are running a hacked copy. If it is CONFIG.DAT, DEVDATA.DAT or ENG.DB then at a guess you've made changes to that file since installation and need to restore the original version from the DVD in order for the patch to strut its stuff, and then reapply your changes to the updated version.

I use original DVD to install and ever done patch#1

It doesn't need fixing. If it won't apply then some change has been made to the original installation (or you need another region's patch, or the DD version rather than the DVD version). Which file is the patch failing to update??

Have you made any changes to the INI files in CONFIG.DAT (using, for instance, File Master)?? Have you applied the first patch?? If not, then do so. If yes, then restore CONFIG.DAT from the DVD (it is in the root directory), reapply the first patch and then try the second patch again.

I've got a mate who has the same "old file not found" bug, and yes he restored originals, tried reinstalling, browsed this and EA forum, etc, stiil doesn't work.

However, it works for me!! :o BUT wait a sec.....FIFA now has the urge to read my floppy disk drive every time i click something, basically its going off every few seconds and I have to put in a floppy disk to stop the FDD noise. I'd rather have the patch not work for me... A big FU goes out to EA.
