Seems you have enough cash, so why not change your mobo to A8N-SLI and instead of Radeon 9800, plug in 2 nVidia's 6800GT or Ultra.

The mobo is a pci-e based one, so no need to bother abt upgrades.

Plus would suggest you go for a DVDRW drive

Change the case, for the love of god, change the case. :kader: :kader:

For that price, they are laughing at you. I paid £650 and I built a PC based around a 3000+winchester/1gb RAM/6600GT/nForce 4/160gb Seagate.

Things I would change:
- Case. To something like an Antec P160 or a Lian Li PC65.
- Processor. For that money I'd be demanding at least a 3500+ winchester.
- Motherboard. A new nForce4 board, like an A8N Deluxe SLI or a Foxconn nForce4 Ultra. (even my old Gigabyte nF4 basic is damn good, does the 1000mhz HTT speed it's not meant to do)
- RAM. Get 2x512mb for dual channel, and perhaps get some Samsung TCCD ships, like GSkill or OCZ.
- Hard drive. Something like a Seagate Barracuda 160gb/200gb NCQ SATA drive.
- Graphics card. For that money you should be looking at a 6800GT or an X800/X850. (which are leagues ahead of the older-gen cards)
- Optical Drive . . come on, you cna buy an NEC 16x DVD-RW for £40?
- Power Supply. Get one with ATX2.0 support, like the Tagan 480W, or the Antecs/Enermax PSU's.
- CPU cooler. Unless you're doing some overclocking, just use the stock cooler. In fact on the Winchesters you can get great overclocks with the reference HSF. Mine runs at 28 degrees idle / 32 degrees load.
- Service Pack 2 is the scum of the earth.
- Make sure your TFT has <16ms response time, something like the 19" LG ones should be good. (I think they are 12ms)
- Speakers. Logitech Z-5500 are probably the best current PC speakers for the price range, although I don't know much about Altec. Check the wattage of the satellites/subwoofer.
- Personally I'd get a Logitech keyboard/mouse instead of microsoft, if you're gaming something like the MX510 or the MX1000 would be a great mouse.
- Sound sensitive cathodes may be a bit dodgy, I'd prolly go for one with a switch that you could put either on a fan controller or on a spare 3 1/2" slot or something.

If it's truly custom, why don't you just build it yourself? :)
