National Women's Teams?

Look, maybe it's just because I'm crazy (As stated in my sig), or maybe it's because I'm American (Again, as stated in my sig :crazyboy: ), but doesn't it seem like the national women's teams don't get enough attention? I mean, the Women's World Cup is one of the most exciting, masterful displays of sheer athletic ability in the world, but most people I've talked to are more interested in their local third division club then in their national women's team!

What's up with that? :rolleyes:

It definitely makes sense that they would care more about their local team. They've probably supported it for years. Why should they care about a team they probably didn't even know existed?

Even if it's the top women soccer players in the world, the play still doesn't come anywhere near the men's game. It's not bad soccer but it's not terribly entertaining either.

i think you might have gone a little too far with the women's world cup being "the most exciting, masterful displays of sheer athletic ability in the world." but they are enjoyable to watch every 4 years.

but it's a common fact that women's soccer will always take a backseat to men's (i'm not a male chauvinist). it's the same thing with basketball. but here in the us, the women's national team has a huge following and gains a lot of attention. (mia hamm has a cult following, i swear).

It's just that I get frustrated when I hear the scores to Portsmouth vs. Wolves but not the Women's World cup scores.

Abby Wambach could head her way past any EPL defense. :rockman:

I they could get more attractive women to play and do promotional nude spreads then I'd be more interested.

But, actually, I do take my niece and nephews to the U. Texas womens team games a few times a year, and they are fun. Nothing compared to men's pro games, but fun.

i dunno, i'd watch a few wusa games, and well... id rather watch stoikchov at age 34 then mia hamm... at age 34.... just me.

anyway, in america, match time is very precious... so if i have to choose between wusa and mls i choose mls, just because its more exciting. .. or EPL. Anyway with WUSA out of business, i mean it sucks, but i wont miss it.

anyway germany's team was butt-ugly (sorry brigit but you look like a man), but swedens team was pretty fine

Hell yeah, my girl from Rochester! She will be better than Mia Hamm I think. (maybe if she keeps on playing the way she does and doesn't get hurt but like that's goinga to happpen. She probably togher than most of the men out there.)

I think comparing Wambach to Hamm is a mistake. There just such different kinds of players, Abby's the physical, aggressive forward like Wolde Harris, Hamm's a more deep-lying, tricky forward. Beats you by her smarts and ball handling, rather then sheer power.

But Wambach is definitely gonna score just as much :D

U.S.A! U.S.A! We didn't get this one, but Germany sits on a crown of spikes , believe me. (H)
