My XBOX is dying

I think the laser is stuffed because every game I play I eventually get the "Disc may be dirty or damaged message".

It's gradually getting worse, and I've been using a CD/DVD lens cleaner which helped a bit but now its completely stuffed. I can't play for longer than a minute without it stopping, and I just got PES 4 :boohoo: .

I'm going to send it away for fixing unless there is another option>

Any help?

Happened to me aswell, i just gave up on it and bought a Gamecube.

The same thing happend to my XBOX 6-8 months into my purchase (I purchased it on opening day). There's not much you can do, that is, unless you purchased a yearly warranty. If you don't have a warranty take your XBOX to a nearby electronics shop, they might be able to repair it at a low cost.

yea the gamecube is the toughest system while the PS2 only sold refurbished system this Christmas season. Which tells you the low quality in hardware.

Anyway call 1-800-4my-xbox and tell them your xbox doesn't work and that you dont know why. Act like a naive little girl and hopefully you can them to fix it for free. They will send you a box with a return address on it. Put your xbox in the box and mail it in. You should be receiving your xbox back in 4-7 days. Don't forget to backup your saves on a memory card because your hard drive will be clean out or replaced.

that's the good thing about Nintendo, they make very high quality products. My gamecube suffered all kinds of 'damage' but it's still there working fine.

As for your Xbox, I think It'll be better to buy a new one

What do refurbished consoles have to do with the cheap quality of PS2s hardware? Do you know what the word 'refurbished' means? "To make clean, bright, or fresh again; renovate." - dictionary.com. What kind of store only sells refurbished/used PS2s anyway?

And yes, Sony can be cheap bastards when it comes to shitty hardware, oh well.

I meant to said that they had so many ps2 rejects that they where able to cover the entire holiday season with them.

Well they use to fix the Thompson drives for free because it was their fault. I dont know about nowadays.

That is why I hope XBOX-2 supports XBOX-1 games.

My XBOX is beginning to do the same thing and I am crossing my fingers that it doesn’t quit on me. I have my XBOX for about 2 years. This problem should not be happening to so many people so early on. A console should last a lot longer than that.
