My Soccer Career in a new country

Starting XI
Well after 4 years of living in N.Z I finally found my top form in soccer. Used to play back in South Africa but everyone used to dribble rings around me so much it was like I could cry, but I was still like 10 back then and the guys I was playing with and against were like 16-25. Back there the style was based on mostly skill. So when I had moved here I really struggled with the style here b/c it's so damn physical and even though I had good ball skills I found myself getting muscled off the ball quite a lot. It took me quite a while to get my game in balance because as I found myself concentrating on building body strength I neglected to keep practicing my technique. I missed out on the 1st and even 2nd team because of it. That took away some of my confidence and I even quit to play rugby, but a broken arm sent me right back to football. Well after a crap season in my 2nd year of high school and missing out on regionals due to injury after I had gotten in, I moved to the capital and my fortunes turned around in 1 year. I played for club 2nd and development and for the school 2nd XI as a striker and right winger. I was originally a defender when I moved to this city, but the coaches put me in ST after an injury and I haven't looked back since. I won MVP for my team, and got players' player of the year for school plus the golden boot for my club team.

Well that's about it for my new soccer career, I've been advised to work on my speed and try out for regionals by my club coach so that's what I'll do in the new year. I was pretty happy with the turnaround and I'm having more fun now playing than I have since I was a kid playing in the streets of South Africa.
