My Main Problems

I am so annoyed. I am playing with Man Utd and I have 4 major concerns


1) Defending - With the likes of Ferdinand, Heinze and Silvestre, I should be defending really good, right? Well the answer is no. Tight marking, man marking, whatever I do, my defence is realy poor. This leads me to my second problem.

2) Conceding - OK, so the defence is bad. That is why, in every match, I have to concede at least one goal. Even if I'm playing Crystal Palace I concede. Perhaps its also the Goalie's fault, but either way it is really annoying.

3) Shooting on target - OK so the defence is bad and I'm conceding lots of goals. Now my team can't shoot on target. In one match, Rooney had 7 shots and only 1 on target. Altogether 21 shots and 7 on target. So annoying

4) Scoring (or rather finishing) - OK if I say scoring, then thats not really true because I've scored more goals than any other team in the Premiership. But our teams finishing is very poor. When my players (very rarely) do shoot on target, they shoot right at the Goalkepper. For God's sake even I could do better! Hit it on the bottom-right corner, its not really that hard!

Well those are my problems. Is there anyway I can solve them, or do I just have to wait?

Everyone has the third problem.
The game s*cks in generally. To much bugs that's also the reason why I've gone back to CM 03/04. And until there's a patch that fixes it I'm staying on CM.

Well those are my problems. Is there anyway I can solve them, or do I just have to wait?

1. Defending - Have both our centre-backs on man-marking, and dont tell any of the defenders to do tight marking or to close down (own area only). I concede almost zero goals and when i do is mostly from outside the area or set-pieces. Having a good midfield (i mean, a high number of players in midfield) also helps as they dont get closer to your goal. I like playing with 5 in the midfield (not flat though). Try using 2 DMC's and put the other 3 where you wish.

2. Conceding - Read the number one...

3. Shooting on Target - Could be due to training, but in this case everyone have the same problems.

4. Scoring - Read number 3.

I agree with Grunger for your defence have 2 DMC to help your defence and for my team i have my DR and DL act like centerbacks so they are always defending It helps a lot because then they dont run all the way up to forward or anything like that.

I give my fullbacks some freedom, nice to have a few crosses here and there. Still, i dont like them going upfront too much, otherwise i'll get caught on the break.

Why don't I have that shooting problem Everybody has that, I played as PSV against Shaktar and only had 8 shots, they had 25, I still managed to draw them. And it happens so often irl too, I just watched Liverpool-Arsenal, Arsenal had only 1 shot and they scored from it, Liverpool had like 15 shots and scored 2.

X-Ter, maybe it's not the game that's messed up, maybe it's just you that sucks I have no problems scoring and my defence is good, and I'm playing with City

I have tried alot of tactics and training schedules and now i think i found right stuff, i dont have those problems anymore.
No sign of the "shooting bug" or anything.My only concern are my strikers, one of them is 29 years old and has 10 for finishing and the other lad is 24 with OK stats but havent scored one goal for me in 12 matches, and i cant afford a new player

So i suggest you try different tactics and training til you find the right one...

overloading(attacking)
overloading(defending)
shooting(2 or 3 times a week)
set pieces(defending)

I havent yet conceded off a corner with these tactics and i score plenty of goals.

u got money, buy yourself some decent defenders then. using 2 Def mids help alot.

i'm played a 4-4-2 last season in serie A and only conceded 15 goals. but since i failed to win the league i'm playing a 4-1-3-2 now

I have all of those except shooting, which is once a week. I'll try it 3 times a week

Thanks for all the advice! Its really helped me. I made my own tactic (which has one DMC) and improved my training. I'm still conceding, but thankfully less than before. I'm rally happy now Thanks a lot!

Playing wide is asking for trouble in FM and I noticed playing to deep just invites forwards in.

I have the bar about 1/4 the way in FM so its deep but not too deep. Also what are your settings for closing down? I find closing down in your own area works wonders while closing down all over makes your team play crap.

yea closing down all over leaves gaps and unmarked players as well as all your players get tired. i close down in own half only.

and my bar is also 1/4 of the way and temp is 1 notch below quick.

i've also noticed FM is more difficult than CM 03/04?

i'm playing milan and i got like good players all around the park but i lost 4 games and i'm half way thru the season i'm sitting on top coz of goal difference and i won 1 title in 3 seasons.

so i'm happy its either my tactics suck for FM or its harder in general

I can't believe how much my team has changed! I won the pemiership with five games remaining, beat Chelsea 7-0 and beat Real Madrid and Barcelona. But I lost to Milan and thats the only match I've lost for about 11 games. Now I don't want to install the patch when it comes out in case my team starts losing again, lol.

I have a problem, cant be bothered starting a new thread. But my problem is wages At the end of my first season at Liverpool a lot of players need contract re-newals, and whilst they are on for eg, 20k per week, upon renewing it they are requesting the likes of 70k per week, i cant re-sign Alonso at the moment, cause he wants 75k per week and my board will only allow 65k, and he wont accept it.

And already i am 90k per week over my wages budget. After signing Chivu, Deisler, de Jong, Luque and Joaquin.

Anyone with any tips on how you manage wages?
