Hi folks and greetings for the forum!

So, I have some weird problems with fifa 08 that I just bought...

The game took about half an hour to install, but without errors.
So, when I started it, the ingame menus are sooooooo lagging, slow and unusable! :( Also the starting movie plays at about 0.5 fps!!! :(
Then, after taking about FIVE MINUTES getting to a casual match...when it finished loading it gently crash to desktop displaying no error :(

Just like it.

Sincerely, I don't mind!
-I've the latest video card drivers, the framenet is updated, also windows xp and ALL the drivers on my machine!
-I've killed practically all the under-programs via taskmanager
-I've scanned the entire hd with antivirus, scandisk and I've do a complete defragmentation before and after installation
-I've modified the virtual memory of the sistem forcing it to very high maximum values and restoring it to default settings...nothing.

These are my specs:
-Motherboard Asus P5B
-Intel Core2 Duo E6600 2.4 ghz x 2
-2 Gb Ram Corsair Dominator (1024 mhz) DDR2
-GeForce 7900gs 256mb DDR3
-Creative SoundBlaster X-Fi Platinum
-Windows XP Professional edition SP2

Pleas help me! I'm going crazy!
:(

Guys, please help me! :(
I've also tried to downgrade the forceware to 163.44 version, to upgrade the bios and I've disabled the SpeedStep feature...nothing works and the problem is still there... :(

Hi,

Try reinstalling your audio drivers or check for an X-Fi update. Is this a new build? You could also try reinstalling your chip set drivers too.

If you haven't gotten a displayed error, check your event viewer (application tab). You can get to the event viewer by going to "start-settings-control panel-administrative tools- event viewer". You will most likely see a red X in the 'type' column, double click the line to get details on the error.

Best of luck

Hi and thx for reply!
I have the latest drivers for ALL my devices, soundblaster included ;)
I also tryed to reinstall as you advice...no way the problems remains :(
Meanwhile I've also updated the BIOS and I've manually unistalled the game (also deleting the register quotes for the game) and reinstalled...nothing! :(

Have you checked your event viewer logs? XP does a pretty good job at writting an error on application crashes. The detail ususally points out an offending dll or a faulting device.

Best of luck.

Yep, I've cheched it...but no crashes are detected...
I've also try to run the game setting the affinity of the dual core processor via taskmanager, first to one, then to another, then to both processor...no way:eek:

Hi, I am running great on the 169.21 nvidia driver. The in-game menus are a bit laggy, but the game play is great. I would try updating the driver. Be sure to completly remove the old driver first with a driver cleaner ( I use driver cleaner3).

If that does not work, I'd bet its a bad chip set driver install. It should not take an hour to install fifa 08 on your pc.

Lastly, I wouldn't think the affinity would cause lags, I am running XP Pro SP2 and use an AM2 64 FX-62 Dual Core processor on an ASUS M2N32-SLI Wireless Deluxe board and it works great.

Ok...I've reinstalled the 169.21 forceware (before I use driver cleaner for deleting old driver files)...nothing
I've updated the chipset driver with the latest available...nothing
I'm going crazy:|
I've never got such a problem in 18 years of computer gaming:s***:

Sorry to see that you are having such trouble. Is your PC overheating? Do other games run ok? Is your Power Supply powerful enough? What are the Power Supply specs? Brand, total watts and Amps on the +12v? Have you checked your device manager to see if there are any IRQ conflicts? Can you move your sound card to a different PCI slot? Is you CPU overheating? What is it's temp for each core? Did you try running a full direct x test? Are you running 9.0c? Go to the run box and type "dxdiag" and run all of the sound and graphics tests to see if there is a direct x issue. It could be your memory, are you using a matched pair? Have you tried running memtest?

Sorry for all of the stuff in here, I'm thinking off the top of my head in what I would check on my pc.

Is your PC overheating?

No, 35 °C the cpu, 25-30 °C the system

Do other games run ok?

Yep, no problems at all, and games with more requests than fifa tough!

Is your Power Supply powerful enough? What are the Power Supply specs? Brand, total watts and Amps on the +12v?

600W, asus brand

Have you checked your device manager to see if there are any IRQ conflicts?

No conflicts at all

Can you move your sound card to a different PCI slot?

Yes, but I don't think that will be going to resolve me problems....

Did you try running a full direct x test? Are you running 9.0c? Go to the run box and type "dxdiag" and run all of the sound and graphics tests to see if there is a direct x issue.

Sure! I run a full test, DXDIAG test, no problems or conflicts with 9.0c!

It could be your memory, are you using a matched pair? Have you tried running memtest?

The pair is identical, matched, corsair brand...and no, I haven't tried to run a memtest...I will try...
