This result came as no surprise to me , I predicted the exact scoreline , Man utd have not been good enough this season , and dont deserve to win anything , I think it was a big mistake to sell class players like Beckham and Veron , and replace them with mediocre players , like Djemba and kleberson.

Monkee, I think your rating on O'Shea is a little harsh, he played well, no lack in effort, patrolled the left flank very well and covered nicely when in defensive position. He hasn't really been that bad this season, perhaps not quite the form he had the previous season but he's done well and he's still young and developing.

You're probably right. But I did think he was our worst player last night despite his effort. The thing is, this season he hasn't got anywhere near the standard he set last season, and that's very disappointing. Like you say though, he is young and developing.

I actually think that Ruud did fairly well last night (not his best performance but he wasn't poor), but was let down by the lack of, and poor quality, service. When he received the ball he controlled it well and made some decent runs, drawing some fouls.

I also feel that the free-kick that lead to Porto's equaliser was as good a decision as the free-kick which gave us our goal in the first leg (which was a poor decision from what the Porto fans have been saying). At the end of the day, despite our poor attacking play we were robbed by weak refereeing and the worst offside decision of all time.

I'd be 100% in favour of introducing a video ref to make decisions on goals (and only goals, and possibly penalties?) where there is doubt. I'd be against making the game stop-start by using him/her all the time, but a 10second break while the video ref looks at the tape of the goal, when the referee has requested it, and judges it's validity is needed. Football needs to make the step out of the dark ages.

I havent posted anything since my post on the 28th page of this thread, which I read from page 29. There was bitching and fighting and accusations. If this was Juventus bowing out to Porto instead of us, that SoDragoes guy would've been banned already.

As for the match, I understood why Howard just palmed the effort instead of punching it away. We have a poor record of conceding goals from corners. I think the reaction to the Howard save was awful. Who was marking Costinha?

I think Fergie started out with a 4-5-1 so that the midfield would stop Porto from dominating. We lost that when we reverted to 4-4-2.
