I think the way Porto has been playing lately, they'll win, but i dont really care who wins, as long as milan beat Sparta...its all good.

I think we'll win 2-1. We played a great game last friday, Benny is absolutely on fire (score a couple more in that fixture) and we have Costinha back, which is a great addition to our midfield!
The team is really breathing confidence and don't expect us to play defense until the game's last 10 minutes. Also, we'll score at least one goal.

FORÇA PORTO!!! (H) :mrpimp:

I don't even know why they use Brown. If i was them i'd feel better with a hole back there, aleast it won't give up a set peice.

Remember Solskjaer should be back for this game so here's how I think we should line up. We may aswell go all guns blazing, though if Scholes hangs back too much revert back to 4-4-2 with Scholes in an attacking midfield position.

Sir Alex ready for Porto test

Sir Alex Ferguson has promised Manchester United will not let their fans down at Old Trafford on Tuesday.

After injecting some badly-needed momentum into a season that appeared to be fading fast with an FA Cup win over Fulham, Ferguson's side must now claw back Porto's 2-1 lead to ensure their Champions League campaign does not end embarrassingly early.

With the stakes so high, one of those electricity-charged European atmospheres Old Trafford is famous for is guaranteed and Ferguson believes it will inspire his team to victory.

'Tuesday's game is massive for us,' admitted the United boss. 'It's probably the biggest match of our season. We need the crowd right behind us and we know they will be. Old Trafford is a difficult place for opposition teams to play at on big European nights.

'Our record there is outstanding and we will not let our fans down.'

After a miserable recent run, Ferguson will have been sufficiently encouraged by this performance to believe his team can continue their European adventure, even if privately he would acknowledge that avoiding Arsenal in tomorrow's FA Cup semi-final draw is a must if they are to feel confident of advancing to their first final of the Millennium Stadium era.

Gary Neville will definitely be back and Mikael Silvestre is also hoping to return and shore up a defence which for the final 15 minutes had Ryan Giggs pressed into service at left-back.

That said, United's rearguard turned it its best performance since Rio Ferdinand began his suspension in mid-January even if a couple of calamitous blunders from Roy Keane and Wes Brown paved the way for Fulham to take an unexpected lead.

Keane's ill-advised decision to try and let the ball run out for a goal kick under pressure from Brian McBride was the act of a man not entirely familiar with the basic defensive requirement to clear your lines at the first sign of danger.

Still, there would have be no problem had Brown not mis-timed his sliding interception of McBride's pass to Luis Boa Morte so badly that he failed to make any connection with the ball and instead sent the Fulham striker crashing to the ground.

In an unintentional horse-racing reference on the weekend when Ferguson accepted defeat to John Magnier in the Rock of Gibraltar row, Cottagers defender Zat Knight claimed `there would have been a steward's inquiry if the referee had not given a penalty'.

Even Ferguson accepted the spot-kick award was correct, leaving Steed Malbranque to become the first visiting player to convert a penalty in domestic combat at Old Trafford since Ruel Fox scored for Norwich back in 1993.

Along with Nicky Butt and Darren Fletcher, Ronaldo was a stand-out performer. Fulham were unable to cope with his pace and trickery down the right flank and more of the same will be required if he is to become the only Portuguese international to have something to celebrate on Tuesday evening.

'We didn't want to go stumbling into Tuesday's game,' claimed Giggs. 'We needed a solid performance and we got one. We are still in three competitions and we have the players who can win trophies.

'With Manchester City coming up on Sunday as well, this is a very important week for us and we needed to get on a winning run.

'It is good to be back in the semi-finals of the FA Cup again because it is such a fantastic tournament but now we are all fully focussed on Porto and hopefully things will go our way.'

There's talk about Butt starting to replace keane. I'm quite nervous about this....go out early and i think there will be some changes in the summer, go through and i'll have pride and feel not as humiliated

Let me say this right now. Porto are not beating us. It might be 3-2, 2-1, 1-0, 3-0 but we are winning this. I dont think we'll keep a clean sheet, but Porto's defense wont be able to handle our attack any better than we are able to handle theirs. Even with our weakened defense, our side is pretty strong. All we need is confidence we can do pretty well. Solskjaer can come on later on in the match. :)
