english league very tough. de gea too skinny. de gea need muscle. if de gea stay skinny Man U no win english league. and carrick midfielder yes but carrick bad defending 1-on-1. carrick cost man u goals. this not first time carrick bad defending cost man u remember fa cup semi-final last against man city?????

In midfield, he will rarely be isolated against a good striker in an important 1-1 situation.
To say our CB pairing was a midfielder and a 19 year old, they were offered very little protection from the rest of the team, so I wouldn't lay the blame on them entirely.

Fair enough, however it's still a problem that needs to be fixed if Carrick is to be used as a emergency CB.

The great English central midfielders, your Gerrards and Lampards, have all had very strong defensive aspects to their game. It's all part of dominating the midfield, being the engine in the middle of the part. Carrick doesnt have that.

It's true, and I'm not trying to take the blame away from him completely. Only this was a general fail of the whole team. When we have such a patchwork formation, we need to help each other out, which didn't happen.

Another example was Samba vs. Berbatov at set plays. That's clearly a mismatch, so why not put an extra player on him? In the penalty incident, Valencia was standing directly next to them and was watching.

In the battle between Macheda and Welbeck for next Utd star forward, I thought Welbeck had won....

Yeah at the moment I'd rate Welbeck higher, not sure about the 'next star forward' though QPR are a decent side and Kiko getting some playing time (and Barton-time) would definitely benefit him, who knows. Surely a better deal than the time he joined Sampordia. Atleast we'd get few pounds more for him once he'll **** off for good, lol.
