What a game! Downloaded it just to watch it all again. De Gea is improving bit by bit. And who would have thought that Smalling would be such a beast of a right-back. Welbeck is certainly improving our attacking play.....

Young turned out to be an excellent buy after all. You know that he is always going to give something to the team. Definitely more consistent and effective than Nani. 2 goals + 2 assist today.

Btw Welbeck is out injured for 4-5 weeks. Too bad for him but we have Chicharito coming back. Anderson/Cleverley were once again awesome! Think we can cope without a new midfielder this season. We have Fletcher coming back too.

I always thought Young was class in a mediocre team, in a class team he really shines, even though he is a little one footed he isnt as bad as Valencia in that department.

ps i know you werent adressing me but i thought i would put in my 2 pence :p

You had doubts about Young?

Had no doubts at all about him. Knew he was gonna be great. But I was questioning whether we needed him or not given that we had Valencia and Park who are both great already. Young brings a new dimension to the team and he's versatile.

Anderson-Cleverly partnership looked great so far. They have pace, energy, motivation, one touch pass and ...

However, as I pointed yesterday, they defend so deep rather than pressing more. They go back to support defenders very fast and it gives lots of areas to our opponents. Unfortunate, that's one of the biggest drawbacks of 4-4-2. Also, smalling goes into the box very fast which I think it's natural because of his normal post. In second half, after Park and Giggs subs, we actually played 4-3-2-1, which had more pressing and Arsenal players had less ball in that period. I think this system would be useful against top teams for away matches and when we want to keep the result. However, I hope to see more pressing and aggression from Cleverly and Anderson. Below graphics show my points better.

Look at the Red area which gave few good chances to gunners

Look at the dense in midfield, Rooney and Young pressed more in that tactic and won more balls. Also defense line was not that back.

Btw, I'm not saying we should switch system, I'm just comparing different systems.

The boy has great confidence level like he was there for 10 years. That's a kind of player which we need, someone with "Yes We Can" attitude.

C- tactical analysis because Rooney tracks back and helps out a lot in midfield defense. And BTW, it's a lot smarter conceding an area 30 yards from goal than it is conceding the space between the defense and midfield line.

yea pretty shocking that but good luck to hargo. I have a feeling city are doing it to wind us up.

Anyway arsenal have snapped up PARK chu young. Now we need a banner saying "There's only one PARK". (our park)

Pointless move again. Thats not a position that they badly need players. They bought 2 forwards (Gervinho and Park) when their problem is in midfield and defense.

Help?

Rooney backtracks at most to the middle of the field in most of the times.

I have to disagree. I see him defending almost every corner and he will always chase for 60-70 yards just to get back the ball that he lost. He backtracks as much as any forward in the league if not more.

I don't consider this anything other than late mind game from City.
I bet if he can play among their good players.

However, he went through lots of difficulties, I wish him all the luck.
