We'd have a chance to advance without having to beat you, trying to win by any means - like in the final, usually doesn't end too well, lol. Also it's less stressful for me, to see us crash out earlier than losing in the final It's pretty much theoretical jabber anyway.

lol cant say I'm surprised... we ain't been playing well since September. This is defo going to be another transition season. With Any luck SAF can start to mould the next team. There signs of great potential.

Another goal from Jones, that lads gonna be big. Smalling looked off.

Our midfield really looks bad, going from Scholes and Keane to this... Carricks been so good and goes and gets himself band. O well, you cant go blaming it on injuries and suspensions, our midfielder has been found wanting this season.

I did not watch the game but just checked the scoreline. Very disappointing result. We had an easy group and should have gone through. We definitely need some January signings. I can't see ourselves winning games with that team.

Its been a disappointing season. Our central midfield has been really shocking apart from the odd game. Bunch of new players, Scholes gone with no replacement.

We been edging through in the prem getting 1-0 wins. Nothing really impressive since the start of the season.

Like I said transition period, I'm sure SAF will pull through and make it work again within the next season or two.

We could still win the prem but it wont be in the same style as seasons past.

As expected. First half was so slow the entire outfield team looked like 10 Berbatovs strolling around the pitch. Vidic goes off and for how long I don't wish to know. We'll have City to entertain us again in the Europa League, following the FA Cup. If we continue playing like this we might as well be fighting with Liverpool for fourth place in the League.

You really need to watch the full match.highlights only show you the bright side.The match was awful in the first half.but second half is much better.more pressure,more chances but bad luck with should get a penalty..

It was really expected we had a mass exodus of players, even the much underrated Oshea had tons of CL experience. Cant wait to see what happens now.

I'll tell you what would be really annoying, is if United suddenly started playing amazing, team started gelling, beating everyone 4 to 7 - 0 and winning the bloody plastic cup. lol

The great thing is Fergio won't panic and spend 90m on useless players who will bitch and whine about his rotation system. He will rebuild United again, and develop players like Cleverly to be a legends like Giggs and Scholes who bleed United red.

This is a ******* disgrace, 4 games against Benfica and Basel and we couldn't win one of them. Our kids should be winning this games. Transition period? These bitches can transition right out of Old Trafford. And if that's not bad enough, we gotta now endure the humiliation of the Europa league.

We should have been scoring 3-4 goals each game and going for the damn win and not trying to be to cute and get draws here and there. Surely there has got to be somebody better out there that we can buy in midfield than play 4 ******* wingers and a defender. This is unacceptable.

Not one bit. We got arguably the easiest draw and any player on the starting 11 would walk into Basel's lineup or Benfica's for that matter. And yet, collectively, we find ourselves in Europa league. You don't go from Champions League finalist to getting knocked out in first round just by losing 2 players. No disrespect to Benfica or Basel, but lets face it when the draw came, we all celebrated like United has just been dealt a flush.

Nevermind our obvious problem in midfield and the obvious lack of funds to buy real world class players, this team should be easing through the group like Real and Barcelona. Look at the lineup: Ferdinand, Vidic, Giggs, Nani, Young, Rooney, Valencia, Evra. No disrespect to Basel or Benfica but these guys should be taking care of business. For over 10 years I always stuck by United when every year somebody would come along and proclaim that United are a spent force, but I can't stick by this. I bet Macheda makes more than the highest paid Basel player.

I think they were fantastic games. Those teams played United with tenacity and intensity that made those matches fantastic to watch as a neutral.

It has happened to Barcelona this year too, Sevilla/Athletic/Valencia played fantastic matches against us. Sometimes you just need to tip your hat and applaud that, and prepare for the next season.

The midfield issue has been known from last year, but Sir Alex sees no value in the market, the man knows his stuff. Have faith
