F*cking frustrating match to watch. We are slowly turning into the boring, boring Chelsea. We played better when Saha came on. I felt at times the pace was too slow and some players really have to prove themselves out there. I felt sorry for Carrick because he can open up defences like Sunderland.

I agree. Without Rooney and Ronaldo the team lacks pace and creativity. Introducing Saha to the match was the turning point of the game..
Tevez is disappointing and Nani is slightly less disappointing but I expected more of him. I can't really comment on Anderson after playing a single half following his injury but he had a bad game. Hargreaves is the best of our new signings..
Either we are playing crap and making mediocre teams look good or all of the teams that we've played against so far are playing negative football to try and concede as few goals as possible and secure a draw..

Who wouldn't be? He knows he is an expensive signing and he would want to contribute on the pitch. Frankly, I'd be pissed if you bought a multi-million pound signing and don't play him for the majority of the season. Carrick just has to work hard to get his place back.

Tevez didn't have a proper pre-season. And Nani could have done better. What most fans would expect from wingers is to get the ball into the box. Nani and Eagles didn't do enough of that for me.

But 3 goals in 5 games is disappointing. Injuries to Saha, Rooney, Tevez and Ronaldo at the same time might kill our season (could be proved wrong).

What a relief! Another 1-0 win after a below par performance. Sunderland weren't much offensively or defensively. In the first half there was just no striker upfront and whenever somebody would brake away on counter-attack, that player would either have to lose the ball or turn back and pass to somebody behind him, while Sunderland player comeback. We are most dangerous on counter-attack and today we didn't do a single one. Luckily, Saha regained his fitness and saved our asses. As soon as he came on, he would do what stikers do and that's stretch the defense and chase the ball. The goal was nothing out of the ordinary and more like bad defending from Sunderland, but Saha overall was really good today. He hasn't played a game in so long and yet looked as sharp as ever and to even think that some of you wanted to sell him. Apart from injuries he saved our asses a lot last season and he did again today.
Anderson had a lacklusture performance, however he sorted of played out of his position and he just came back from a hamstring injury, so that's not an easy thing to do.

Anyway, i'm happy that we got a win and next game is in two weeks against Everton. Ronaldo will be back, Saha is back, Rooney quite possibly on the bench. And with Saha and Tevez attacking, while Ronaldo and Nani controlling the wings, we should see a totally different game then, mark my words.

BTW anybody else is surprised at Evra's performances so far? He was always good going forward but this season it seems that his dribbling and ball handling improved significantly and most importantly, he doesn't lose sight of the player he is marking, as well as his defending and tackling sky rocketed compared to last season. So far he seems to defend just like Heinze if not better and doesn't use his elbows and shoves to keep the ball, added to that, his attacks always seem dangerous.

Carrick didn't look happy when he was sent back to the bench after warming up,

Wouldn't you too though if you were told to come on for one player, then a few minutes later for another and then told to just take a seat. Just a simple dissapointment at not playing a part in the game, that's all. nothing to worry about.

About Evra....he was amazing again today, and just like you said, the commentator said the same thing, he has improved in his defensive duties and he seems to make the right choices of when to go forward or not

Wow what a ****ty ass game! It was just written all over the final third, "WE DON'T KNOW HOW TO PLAY WITH EACHOTHER". We didn't have one goalscoring chance until Eagles' long range shot. But it is great to have Saha back though.

Reserve Team
anderson play badly but he was out of place, he's a playmaker and he was playing as a second striker or something like that and it was his 1st game, that didn't help either
nani played well again, not as good as he can but it was ok
man utd deserved to win but it was a very difficult match but now that ronaldo's back things will be easier

From 6 of our attacking players, 5 of them never played in the United first team last season. Only Paul Scholes was up there that was around last season, while Chris Eagles never did end up playing with the best 11. So it is understandable that the players didn't really know each other well at that stage, especially Anderson, who only started training 2 weeks ago. You could also see that, when Saha came on, almost every pass Brown and Ferdinand made were straight to him. They tried to get it up to Louis every single time because they know exactly what he is capable of. Just give it time and the players will be flying up and down the field tormenting the opposition.

clearly tevez is not a type of player who can lead the line. When saha came on...he showed much better touches. His confidence is a bit down at the moment just needs a goal. Saha showed why he is still so important to us. Evra is a tank. He has improved tremendously. Why doesnt SAF play carrick and hargreaves. Carrick is in such good form this season so far. There was no chemistry & understanding in yesterday's performance. I'd rather we stick with the same team that won us the title last season and slowly bring the new players in to gel.

man, you could see that it was a njew front line today. over all i am happy with the game considering that eagles, nani, anderson, tevez and scholes are really just playing together for the first time. come christmas we will be rampaging around the leauge, just hope we can keep the pace till then.

either way we got ronaldo back next game. that should give all the new signings a lot more room on the pitch to do their thing since he usually takes the attention of 2-3 defenders.

an other truth mentioned by the commentators. all our attacking players like to come inside, that playes right into the hands of 10 man defenses. you just cant do that. with saha back in the game with ronaldo, we can start hitting the by line and whipping dangerous balls into the box.

man, we really did need a center forward. wish we had of kept smith, he is a top class one.

We are clearly missing Gary aswell, he can produce one of the best crosses in the league, our team could be back to full strenght within 3 weeks

Since the season started,I am still clueless to why Sir Alex prefers Brown over O'Shea or even young Danny Simpson at RB.O'Shea was a monster at LB even before Heinze or Evra came and he is right-footed.O'Shea can definitely cross and dribble better than Brown. We are missing those rampaging overlapping runs and whipped crosses from Gaz,definitely.

And we are back in the race, with 2 points behind Chelsea!

Good news, but Arsenal/Liverpool might extend their lead over us to 5 points if they win their games in hand.
