Starting XI
Nani and Hargreaves both sat out with minor injuries. Van Der Sar was to blame for Urawa's first goal. Ronaldo scored a nice goal, a nice start to the pre-season, gettin that bit of fitness is essential.

But of course the whole sticking point is do they actually have any right to refuse Tevez permission?

This is becoming a major pain in the a$$. I wish United would just pay West Ham something and let Kia sue them (West Ham) for his cut. Also maybe we should just walk away and go for someone else. (Although guaranteed that Chelsea or someone will get him next year )

I don't trust the FA when it comes to United. It seems that United are always held up as "examples" when the FA considers cases. I point to Rooney's 3 match ban from a preseason match, Rio's draconian ban (when Mutu tested POSITIVE for coke and was only given 6 months ban) and the wimping out of hammering Chelsea for Obi Mikel (worth a transfer imbargo methinks) Not to mention the whole "drop the FA Cup for the Club World Championship" fiasco in 2000) As for tapping up, is there any more blatant example than Ashley Cole? Did the FA deduct Chelsea points? (and that was the first example I could think of)

Also how did the Mascherano deal go through. Does the FA really believe that Kia J would allow West Ham to take Tevez for nothing? (As West Ham suggested when they said they had "ripped up" third party papers. As I recall they didn't pay any fee. So Kia is just going to take a drink on a £40M player then? I don't think so.

IMO I think that the FA realised they've dropped the ball (sorry) by letting West Ham off a points deduction - or even have players under third party ownership in the first place and now they're trying to rectify it somehow. And if Man United happen to be involved then screw it they'll use them as the example.

This whole thing is screwed up. But the team that needs an in depth investigation carried out is West Ham (maybe not the new chairman) because the problems are at their end. If United believed Tevez was owned by West Ham (as WH claim) then they'd have just thrown them £30 - £40M and the deal would have been done.

I said this in the other thread but from what I've heard MSI contracts with Tevez can't be legally enforced as they are a restraint of trade, this is why West Ham have taken this stance. At the moment I would say the chances of getting him are very slim. It was a structured deal as well so I don't think we have 30 m cash ready to throw at West Ham if we want him.

if that's what it came down to, we'd have the money if SAF wanted him that badly.

we'll get him, though the problem is he needs sufficient game-time to adapt to our style. hopefully the premier league sort this out quickly.

I dont think he needs time to settle with us.We are a more potent attacking force than West Ham will ever be.He just needs to be in the flow, need not worry about anything else and just concentrate on the football.

Talksport radio has just said United have called in FIFA to resolve the matter, David Gill made a statement this morning.

The chances of getting the deal thourgh before the 31st August is pretty slim, although you never know with FIFA, a well placed briefcase of cash might get the deal through in the next couple of days (H)

Anyone know if the highlights of the tour matches are on ITV like they were last year?

Btw, 3-0 against Seoul after 25 mins. Eagles, Ronaldo and Rooney with the goals.
