Probably a trophyless season just like Real Madrid.

no CL and UEFA Cup and we're behind Chelsea for 10 points. we have to win every single game and beg Chelsea to lose some points in the future. concentrate and desire to win every game + luck are the thing we need now inorder to win the league title. even though it sounds impossible but at least there is hope unless we screwed up ourself. hopefully we can win league cup and fa cup as well

at least i hope

Man I just woke up and I am still feeling miserable, I was hoping that it was all a dream, I read all the earlier posts and I must agree that they lacked determination, this isn't SAF's fault, he subbed right by bringing Park and Saha on early, but IMO he should've started with Park instead of Giggs, Park is part of the reason why we are playing well in the league and he showed the dermination which some of the others needed, I hope Man U can rise back in the near future and keep their critics quiet.

I think we should stick by Fergie until the end of this season at least. Staff changes in mid-season are never good, unless the team is dead last in the league and there is room for improvement in results. Fergie still might be able to prove a thing or two in the domestic cups and also in the league.

Fergie is not going to be easy to be replaced. Afterall, he is probably the one person that knows the most about this club. If he is going to be replaced, it's got to be another big time world class manager like Capello, no average Joe is gonna do.

Yeah yeah, we should always stick with Fergie. Seriously what are you on about? Not easy to replace? I rather have that average Joe at the moment. Changing staff in mid-season is never good? Can it go any worse? We are out of the CL, 10 points away from Chelsea, what else do you want? Relegation? Open your eyes, Fergie and Co. are past it.

Im heading down to carrington tomorrow to ask fergie for a trial...

All I have to say is "I'll do better than most of the players that were on the pitch on wednesday night" and then fergie will welcome me in :)

HELLO !!!!!! :ewan: :)

I`m devastated but it wouldn`t hurt to keep smiling.

Why in the world does CR started over Park and groggy Silvestre started over Brown is beyond me. And Rio, **** you, you sissy overpaid ****, you don`t commit yourself again when it had to be done. What the **** is the matter with you ? Too afraid that throwing your head to an attackers leg will ruin your dreaded hair ? No wonder England suck ass whenever you and Cole played together ( the Ashlee Cole ), cos` they got women defending. You, Helguera and Ashlee would be a good defence for all women team. Smithy, you honestly bring nothing to the table as a midfielder. A couple of tackles and shouts and you think you have became the next Keano, guess what boy, you suck as a midfielder, yes you suck as a midfielder, I say it again, YOU SUCK !!!!!

And **** the ECL, glory, glory Man United . . . :rockman:

Last night it finally came to me how hopeless and desireless we have become. I remember those two times Madrid knocked us out. Both times the scorelines were hopeless, there was no way back and yet I never ceased to hope. We needed 4 goals, managed to get 2 back and I still thought someone can do it. When we went 2-1 down yesterday and basically only needed that one goal, I knew we were done. There was no hope, maybe just a small hope of some sort of fluke to make it happen. Yet we had our best team out there. The team has no vision, they depend mostly on a 20 year old striker and if he doesn't have one of his best days the whole squad is clueless like a youth side without a mentor. I say it's impossible to build on this side, we need a total revamp. Rooney, Heinze, Gary and VDS are the players who should be in our starting 11. Maybe Ronaldo if someone can put some sense into him. And maybe Park, but he has had too little time to prove himself so I wouldn't know. But everyone else, sadly, are past it or just not good enough. If Fergie admits his best possible starting eleven lacks experience and determination to pull out a draw against Benfica then there is nothing to be done really.

Now being kicked out of Europe early is not the end of the world. Neither is another throphyless season. But the way we play and the way this side can play on it's best days is just sad to see. Face it, we're not going anywhere with this squad. Of course it's stupid to moan when we're still second in the league and competitive in england, but the means our managment has had in their hands for the last 5 years were more than enough to maintain a squad that can rip Benficas and Villareals apart even on our worst days of the season. Yet we can't create a single good chance against Lille in two games and every once in a while we get our asses severely kicked by mediocre teams like Middlesbrough.

i know people say fergie has lost the plot but for all that he has done for united in his epic years at ot, i just want him to leave on a high- a high by winning the champions league ; which again seems unlikely.
another thing that scared me last night after the defeat was the future of ruud, rooney, ronaldo.
if we continue to perform miserably they may change clubs as they are in some way or the other top players. Real Madrid somehow always seems to be a dream destination for every player in this world even though real are now a f*cked up team.

missing a goal-machine, a cantona illusion and a new kanchelskis is the last thing a team needs .forget about the contract extensions they can be broken away anytime.

someway somehow i still believe in this man. He has the greatest football managing brain till date. It's up to the players to play the other part.

Are you fckn kidding me?? You'd rather have an average Joe right now than keeping Ferguson?? Wow you must really want the best for the team!

Can it go any worse? How about yes. Why don't we just replace Fergie with Alain Perrin right now and see ourselves go below Brucie and his Birmingham team on the standings??

You think that by sacking Ferguson, the problem is solved. Boom. We're gonna catch Chelsea. We'll win the CL next season. BS. Poor results is not something that can just be wiped out in a flash by management change. A new manager might make a difference, yea, but 95% chance we'll drop further down in the table, and there's a 5% chance that we might maintain our 2nd place.

Honestly, open YOUR eyes and take a look at this team. Our roster is fvcked. We do not have a midfield and our players whine more than they play football. Just look at Ronaldo and Giggs yesterday. So stop being such an I-know-it-all and start speaking based on reality.

Umm, and who is to blame for that? Glazer? He wasn't around until this summer. Queiroz? He is there because Fergie believes in him. The board? I don't think they do the scouting. Blame the guy who carries the water bottles?

It's Fergie who's insisting we'll go on with the same 'fvked' squad we have now and will build on that. If Fergie stays, these players will stay. Fletcher will be a first team regular for the rest of his life and we'll always have Queirozzz and his funky formations + tactics.

Only the managment can turn bunch of whining primadonnas into a team. If this managment hasn't been able to do that, then these players or the manager need(s) to be replaced. Otherwise it will continue to go downhill.

The Glazers should at least wait until the season is over before they pass judgement. Plus, Fergie is already on a rolling contract, all they have to do is not renew his contract at the end of the season, end of it.
But until then, there is no point risking further destabilization, and even maybe missing out on champions league next year should we finish outside the top 4, which until yesterday's embarassment was unthinkable, its possible, but not likely under Fergie's tenure.

What other choice do we have? You act like we have money to throw around, we don't. New signings in January? I doubt it. In the summer? Until you show me the money, I won't be convinced Fergie CAN do anything about it. Please prove me wrong :jap:

Replaced, certainly. Now? No way. As early posted, replace Fergie now, you might as well hope for a UEFA Cup spot. Changing a manager ain't like changing your socks, and though it needs to be done, now is not the time.

no doubt, SAF is a good manager. my only gripe with him is his loyalty to his old guard. giggs scholes and keane(until he got fired). thse guys are past their prime. they should be bit part players in the squad, they are incapable of performing week in and week out. other than that he is a good manager.

add to that his belief that players are able to play out of position and you have a recipe for disaster. smith is a top notch holding forward, he wins long balls and gets you free kicks in dangerous situations, he is not a defensive midfielder. richardson is a midfielder not a left back. ronaldo is a striker not a winger(2 years and half the time his crosses still suck).

all in all SAF has made poor signings over the past few years. he hasnt reinforced the areas of the team that need it, and if he has, that signing was mediocer at best.
hienze was a good buy as was rooney ronaldo and park.

this is what united need and we need it in the january transfer window( no more worries about cup tied players). central midfielder, 2 of them. defender that can play LB. and you can sell giggs if you need cash.

Now that we're out of a CL, we have more time to focus on the Premier League and gets as close to Chelsea as possible. If we do reasonably well in the FA Cup and the PL I'd be very happy.

Who knows, Chelsea may slip up. They haven't had an injury crisis yet. If Terry or Lampard gets injured the team may not play as well. I'm not wishing that it will happen, I'm just saying it's a possibility that thing like this can happen. Chelsea has been very lucky so far regarding that. I suppose their key players aren't injury prone.

Everything is not over yet and I still firmly believe we have a good squad. We are one to two midfielders away from being a very good side again. In the Benfica match, Rooney was the only one who was bringing the ball all the way from our half to the other half. He had to run all the way back to our half to defend and bring it all the way up, for many times. That's wasting talent. He should be in the opposition half waiting for the perfect through past, beating a defender and scoring.

The linkup between the midfield and the forwards is poor. I hope we sign someone good this summer. We are two midfielders away. We are still have a great defence (subject to Rio playing well again) and offence.

Come on Fergie. Sort this out.
