Well I actually agree with SAF about Ballack, the real problem we have is the lack of depth, that has been our main problem, when Heinze, Ruud or Ferdinand were unavailable we had problems all over the place, so thinking about the depth of the team is surely a problem we must tackle. Ballack, Rooney and Scholes are similar players which can play in the same position, Scholes and Ballack are almost the same age, if we can keep Saha fit or give Rossi more chances, maybe one of those two can form a strike force with Ruud and then Rooney playing behind the both of them, one player we must try and get is Gravesen, he is similar to Keane and he has done well for Everton in the past,

but in fact,

scholes is totally off form while ballack still good enough

And this from a Man U "fan"......what a hypocrite.....how the hell do you think Man U used to attract players mate.I'll tell you.By offering more money than any other club. How much did you pay for Rooney.....for Ferdinand?
Now players dont want to come to Man U,and its just something you will have to get used to.There was a time when Man U's youth system produced enough good players to limit having to buy players.
Now.....Man U are looking to buy.How do you think these players will be tempted to join the club?....Thats right ,by offering them lots of money.Get it now.....
Players are not so honoured to be invited to Man U anymore. Those days are over for now.Man U are struggling in many departments and until things get better, players will not be so keen to come to the club.Five years ago Ballack would have been running to old Trafford at the first sign that he was wanted there.Now...he would not come for any amount of money.Think before you post .

Nobody said that Ballack doesn't want to come, and it is absolutely bullocks that nobody wants to come, Real is even in a worse situation and still players wants to go, it is not about the current situation of a club it is about the status and history, so what you are saying doesn't make sense.

It's not that Ballack doesn't want to come but the demand for his services isn't there. Fergie doesn't want him and he thinks Scholes can produce the goods for an extended period. However, imo, Scholes has past his expiry date, much like Fergie himself.

Fernandez mate....you don't really believe that Fergie doesn't want Ballack surely.Fergie believes the same as you. That Scholes is past it and he really would like Ballack.Ballack will not come to Man U.Fergie is just trying to save face.
Ladylover says its not about the current situation at a club but it is.To the outsider,Man U is in a right old mess ,and if you look at Man U's current status,it does not look good.It does not matter how much history a club might have.At the moment players will not take a risk by joining a club that has lost its way on and off the pitch.Unfortunately thats Man U right now.History is yesterdays news and players worry more about the future than the past.

Well... Real have qualified for the next round of the CL, we haven't.

Look ,all clubs have ups and downs.Neither ups nor downs last forever. To the young fans who can only remember United being UP,There have been plenty of times in the past when they have been down too.Even getting relegated out of the top division. If you know your Man U history ,you will know that the club have not always been on a high.As i said the highs dont last forever and neither do the lows,so this low period will pass.I think it might get worse before it gets better but it will pass, and then a new chapter begins.Thats the way it is with all clubs.Man U do not have a God given right to be successful. It takes unceasing hard work, commitment, vision and stability. At this moment in time Man U do not have all those componants in place,so the inevitable is happening.

Help?

The thing about Ballack going to Madrid that bothers me is he is yet another guy they believe is going to sort out their midfield. Thats going to leave Guti, Zidane, Baptista, Gravesen, Garcia, Beckham, and Potentially Raul or Robinho fighting it out for 3 remaining spots. You have to figure Beckham is now an obvious choice on the right, so thats two spots left for all that quality.

On the flipside, if he went to Manchester the midfield would be build around him, and Im willing to bet that, unless they get their defense fixed, Madrid and ManU will be about as successful as one another in the next 3 years. Then again, the lure of that white shirt seems impossible for most people to ignore.

Im willing to bet if he went there, you could poach Guti or Gravesen pretty easily, provided the club are willing to play ball.

I disagree. Zidane should retire this year. Garcia and Gravesen are DMs. Baptista... dont get me started on him.

-----Garcia----
Beckham-------Guti
----Ballack-----

Plus he will be for free :jap:

fair enough, man, but your club is swimming in money: you should send a bit Bayern's way to push the transfer up to January: he would still be a bargain for the player youre getting, and im sure they can make do without him for a nice fee.

Ferguson dampens retirement talk

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson says he will remain in charge at Old Trafford next season and may have another three years at the helm.

Ferguson said: "I'll still be around next season. I'm confident the club will back me in the summer. I can still make long-term plans - absolutely.

I have "almost" always admired and supported SAF in his "doings" but i think he shoud start to think about retirement soon,i belive we need some new blood in the club!
