Oh well, wasn't to be this year. Well done Chelsea, what a way to win the title with 8 goals.

Just hoping we bring in a few new faces, we've got Smalling and Hernandez on the way and then I'm hoping for a new midfielder and a striker. Possibly a keeper depending on what Van der Sar wants to do.

And on what do you base that on? He said himself he's going to discuss a new contract after the World Cup.

That's if United sells Berbatov. If the Glazers give SAF the necessary funds to sign new players, then Rooney may stay. If they don't (and I imagine they won't) then Rooney will leave.

Haha, I was about to ask the same thing.... If there's one player whom will finish his career with us, that will be Rooney, no doubt....the whole Rooney to Madrid is all media talk and he himself has said that he wants to stay with us for the rest of his career

we got rid of beckham beckham didnt get rid of us. same for RVN and the only reason ronaldo went is because he wanted to go, otherwise we would have never sold him. so quit pushing this marca garbage PR of Man Utd feeding the RM team.

You can't compare Rooney with Beckham....Beckham is more than a football player, he is a brand, exceding the movie-star status, which got too big and got too much attention for SAF's liking. That's mostly the reason why Real wanted him.....And besides that Beckham had issues with SAF (which are resolved now) which eventually cost his position within the squad. After all that has happened Beckham still shows his love and respect for the club and SAF and he has said numerous of times how he had loved to still play for us.....

Just to let you know this summer MUTV are keeping their phone ins going (previously they stopped) so fans can get the truth on the BS being pumped out in the papers (I'm looking at the sun, particularly)

This week they've:

Got an exclusive that Patrice Evra "wants a new challenge" (b*llocks)

United are set to sell Anderson, Carrick and Park (Can't see Anderson being sold, Fergie said last week he's Scholes' probable successor)

Nemanja Vidic will be offered to Madrid for £10M as a makeweight for Benzema (I can't even begin to tell you what's wrong with this! )

Owen Hargreaves "Stormed out" of Old Trafford after not being picked for Stoke (I'm sure he was unhappy, but they're making out like his United career is over because of it)

In the truthful column they've reported Birmingham are looking at "raiding" United for £4M Ben Foster, rising to £6M dependant on appearences etc. They're hardly "raiding" United are they, Fergie would probably drop Foster off at St Andrews himself!

Today, Dimi has retired from the Bulgarian team and has reiterated his wish to stay with United.

Speaking of transfers, did anyone see Fulham last night in the Final?

Atletico's keeper, 19 year old David De Gea has been linked with us and I think he looks promising, plus I really would love to see Diego back, I think he'd have the confidence to handle playing for United now, I think he was a bit overawed before.

Yeah, as I recall, Becks only left because SAF forced him out at the time. Thought he was putting his marriage and his tabloid lifestyle before his footballing career. There's a reason David's never come back to the Prem League - he's often repeated it's United or nobody that he'll play for here.

I have a strange feeling he might end up playing for Spurs.

What, Becks? I don't think he'd ever play for another English team. If anything I think Milan have already sounded him out about a deal with them.

In United news, I nearly died of shock today - The Sun hasn't tried to sell a United player!!

How I love silly season :icon_spin:

Foster is on his way out it seems. He's a great talent but his few mistakes cost us a lot which got him go down in the pecking order. I'd be sad to see him go but on the other hand, that could mean we'll go for Akinfeev or Neuer. We need a potential long term replacement for Van Der Sar if Foster goes.

In other news, many players including Rooney and Giggs have been saying that we need more goalscorers. We just can't rely on Rooney for goals everytime. I know we've bought Chicharito but he's more of a potential long term option like Macheda, Diouf, Welbeck etc. Surely at least one of these strikers will emerge as one of our first team strikers in the future. IMO we need either a good striker who can get us the goals in Rooney's absence or a goalscoring midfielder. A midfielder wou can get us 10+ goals a season. Regarding Berbatov, I wouldn't mind if he stayed. He'd probably be a good backup for now.

As for the "silly season", we've been linked with Rodwell lately. Still 18 years of age and very versatile. Can play at CB or DM. Even though I don't think we necessarily need a DM, would be a great buy for the future anyhow. No quotes though so its most probably false.

maybe berb could be converted in midfield? He sorta plays that deep field type of position anyway? And there's no questioning his ability as a play maker. His touches are sublime at times.

Wishful thinking I guess.

Sir Alex is known to be keen on Carlos Rodwell, I said at the time that the goal he scored against us had punched his ticket to United!

As for the keeping situation, I think Tomas K proved he can do a good job, I think of the ones you mentioned though I'd say Akinfeev, although I like David De Gea at Atletico.

Fergie himself has now admitted United need to give Wayne more support up front, and also he sees United are now far more reliant on him than they ever were on Ronaldo

There are absolutely no quotes from Ferguson so its most probably not true. Although I'd love it if it was true. Btw I liked this part:

Rooney attributes his more prolific scoring to Ferguson using him in a more central role. "The manager said to me before the season that I needed to score more headers. But I was playing out wide a lot back then. I said: 'Do you want me to get on the end of my own crosses?'

lol

Borriello and Laas, I hope that never happens.

I think Sir Alex's best transfers were young players not expensive players like Berba and Veron.

There are lots of talks that Fergi will rebuild the team, I'm curious to know how many players you think will arrive and how many will go.

Neymar rejected Real Madrid because he said it was too soon. Or maybe Robinho told him some stuff... Either way thats great to hear from a young player like him.

According to the media here in Holland we have officialy made a bid of 23.3 mln euros for Ajax' striker Luis Suarez. It has been turned down, they want more for him.... Very good player, a bit similar to Rooney's playing style, a bit of an allround attacker. The difference is that he is very unpredictable, sometimes he doesn't even know which way he's dribbling at, but it always seems to work for him....... He likes diving though, if you look at his amount of yellow cards, it is all because of his diving reputation. Besides that he's a good lad, he works hard, scored 32 goals this season if I am correct and can do a job for us
