Obertan Heading for United

Anyone know much about this guy? He's pretty good in FM :p

I have only seen him play during this year's Toulon Tournament. He caught my eye with his style of play. Quite a mature player for his age, compared to the other players, but he was still a raw talent. If I am correct he was named best player of the tournament. He can play on the wings and as a striker. That's all I know...

One of his clips: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VGJ3K5yOfa8&feature=related

wonder where this leave's Nani? so odd he hardly played last season. He had a half decent first season with us. Did he get injured or something. Seems odd all of a sudden he stopped gettin rotated on.

I have faith in nani. Hes really talented. He just needs to improve on decision making and be less selfish. We really have a gem in nani.

Ronaldo flies in for goodbye meal - interesting. Well good luck to him, abviously has a lot of respect for SAF if true. Maybe we will see him in a red shirt again one day.

... now compare with tevez leaving

Yeah it really is a pity to see Tevez acting like this. But I guess he's getting wrong advices from his agent. Cause he behaved similar at Corinthians.

Good to see Ronaldo leave in a proper manner, I think him and SAF will be in contact a lot. I wish him the best of luck to fulfill his dream to be the best player ever.

ya i agree. tevez acted like a typical Caveman, a neanderthal getting angry for not starting games just like how one would react for not getting flesh food in a cave.
Sucks big time, cause the time he bid farewell at the last arsenal game, I thought it was a sentimental moment and felt for the lad, but now I dont feel a flying rats arse for that guy.

Well it's a shame he didn't show that kind of respect when he was lying through his teeth to United and it's supporters. As for wishing him luck - I honestly couldn't care less about him - because he obviously didn't care about us, did he?

And that's my last word on the guy - he isn't a United player, so I don't want to talk about him, he sacrificed that right when he was batting his eyes at Madrid for the past two years and caring more about himself than the team (reference Rome 09 - first 10 mins)

Tevez has also shocked and saddened me by the way he has carried on, he always gave 100 percent for United though, but I think he should stop bleating about the manager or his warm regard with the United faithful will cool off rapidly.

Nani, however is still at United and I for one think it's time for the man from Cape Verde to stand up and become the world class player we know he can be. The stage is set for him now.

Never heard much about the France U21 we're supposed to be getting - but you'd have to say if Bordeaux is saying he's coming, then it must be close. Plus our old mate Laurent Blanc is manager there I believe.

I would rather risk having four strikers all in good form fighting for playing time than risk going into the season with only one legit scoring threat on the team.

I really don't see what the problem is. I'd want Rooney and Eto'o as the regular starters, and then rotate Owen and Berbs in as needed. We didn't spend any money on Owen, so it's not like we are wasting money by letting him sit on the bench...and as for Berbs...the hell with him, he was the biggest waste of money United have spent in as long as I can remember, and he should've been sold this summer anyway.

WE NEED GOAL SCORERS and that is exactly what Eto'o is. We spent what, 16 million on Valencia? So there should be over 60 million left from the Ronaldo sale, plenty to get Eto'o plus another winger.

Why else did we agree to sell Ronaldo, if not to use the massive bank he fetched us to bring in new players to help us win?

The way you are talking, seems you dont believe in our youngsters.
macheda and wellback have amssive potential and should be given their chances.
with 4 forwards, i bet macheda and wellback have slim chances and will have to go out on loan or maybe become more of the fringe types...

We've sold Lee Martin. A player I always liked, but he reminded me a bit of Chris Eagles in that he never made the next step up. I believe he's gone to Ipswich.

Yeah, and he's yet another United player Keano has bought in his managerial career...

ARE YOU CRAZY?

Eto'o is one of the best strikers and pure goalscorers in the world, we would be out of our minds insane to not want him in the team.

Rooney is a hero but let's be honest, he can't do it all by himself. Berbs is worthless, Owen might be a good backup but we can't count on him, neither Welbeck or Machida are ready to be everyday players in the Premiership. IMO we are still in desperate need of a proven striker. If Eto'o actually really wants to come to United, we need to roll out the red carpet for him.

I would feel REALLY good about the coming season with Eto'o as the front striker and Rooney playing slightly behind him.

Seriously, how could any United fan NOT want this to happen? Eto'o is such a talented an explosive player, it's exactly what we need.

Eto'o would be a brilliant signing, but to be honest I'm not keen on him at all. Firstly he's 28. I prefer we spend on younger players. Second, he will cost a lot for sure. Third, he's got an attitude problem. Ask Barca fans. He's very money minded **** as well. We don't need players like him in our team.

Btw, that Obertan guy looks like a good prospect. He has got good technical skills and intelligence in his plays. Bordeaux are only claiming that we are favourites to sign him though, so nothing is confirmed yet.

Players with attitude problems tend to fall in line under Fergie though and he'll cost the same as Huntelaar or Fabiano around 25M euros

Welbeck is only 19 years old...Machida will turn only 18 this summer...they are kids. They are not ready to be regular strikers in the toughest and most physical league in the world.

If I were SAF I would send both of them out on loan this season. Let them get regular playing time somewhere else for an entire season, at least.

I agree with you that they both have great potential, but that is for the future...again, they are only kids, their careers haven't even rightly started yet, we can worry about them getting regular playing time 3 years from now.

I guess my original point was that someone like Eto'o could come in right now and score 25 goals for us this coming season...to think we're going to get that kind of production from Danny or Kiko is just laughable

True, why would any Barca fan want him in the club...after all, he only scored 36 goals for you last season.
