i'm pretty sure andrew isn't talkin' about the outer glow.. ;)

to get a picture to have that soft glow.. you have to duplicate the picture or whatever and then apply about 2.0-3.0 gaussian blur to it depending on yer preference and then you set the layer style to overlay or hard light.

it gives the pic a little more life sometimes.

That's a neat trick, I remember using it a while ago in a sig but I didn't like how it came out with the backround so I didn't use it, I guess it depends on the picture too.

yeah, i found that it looks better if the picture has more definition in it's shadows and the right kind of lighting. and if the pic's too dark it ain't gonna work.

and of course the background is important too.. if you have too much stuff happening in the bg it looks a bit weird.
