put the code directly in the players lua, that's how I do it.
I did a test.
Conditions:
-Same stadium, time, weather
-one specific player, two generic players with assignment codes
-I use moddingway patch, codes are put in FIFA 13\Game\data\fifarna\lua\assets\moddingway\faces.lua
Result:
-Three different colors and details.:S

This is De Bruyne's hair that I made, three players are using the same file.

This is the color I made.

Haha, I just remembered that the colour variation caused by RevMod is due to a darkening of the generic texture, so, according to what generic hair the player has, it has different darkening, you can change the generic hairs and test. But, trust me, if you put the code in the players lua, it will look good.

Seems the face.lua doesn't work.:oI just thought that all the codes should be put into the lua inside the moddingway folder. Now I need to rework all the hair textures I made.
sepak, thank you!;)

Edit:
Which hair model is better?:cb:

This is not a kind of bug, that part is one of the hair components in the blue channel of the alpha, what you can do is to remove it in the alpha but one component in blue channel usually have a few more on the hair model, you need to remove them one by one to test whether the part removed will destroy the hairstyle.:D
I used Gary Cahill and Jérémy Ménez.

I found that making the hair texture to 1% transparency will show the best haircolors and details! The most important thing is to do assignment codes! No more shinny areas, spots, weird colors!
