On the weekend Leicester were relegated. They weren't good enough in the end but you can't help but feel they've been denied their chance of survival by shoddy refereeing after reading the above article.
I saw the clip of this yesterday and it looked like a harsh decision. Dabizas and the Charlton striker were hussling for the ball and the Charlton lad went down, I don't really think it was a dive he was just outmuscled. The decision to award a penalty seemed harsh, the decision to send off Dabizas magnified it.
So today the FA rescinded the red card, as he was the last man back this would suggest that the penalty was dubious at best. It wasn't reduced to a yellow card neither, which would've suggested that they thought the referee got the call right, it was completely struck off.
Leicester probably wouldn't have survived the drop anyway, but they would have still had a chance. If they had won their remaining games and City lost theirs Leicester, a team in financial difficulty, would've survived.
What better example to argue the case for better referees and more refereeing assistance in top-level football?
