I've seen all of Larry Clark's movies and they're just getting worse and worse.

I was very young when I saw Kids for the first time and of course too young to realise if it was a good movie or not. Of course I liked it back then because I had never seen anything like it. Today I watch it again and find it an average movie with some original ideas.

But now Bully and especially Ken Park... it's just disgustingly bad.

While Bully has a stupid as f*ck storyline, it's enough to keep you semi-interested for the whole duration of the film. But make no mistake, it's no better than any B movie you'll ever watch. The characters are all retarded and not even Nick Stahl saves it.

On the other hand, Ken Park doesn't even have a storyline at all, the plot is completely zero. There's absolutely no character development either. It's just a bunch of teen kids saying stupid things and having problems with their family and f*cking for one hour and an half. I dunno what the hell is Larry Clark trying to achieve making films like this but if it's something about the youth of today, I'll watch something like Garden State or Ghost World, if I'm interested in porn I'll just go see a porn movie. The point is that there absolutely no reason to watch this movie except for the fact that Maeve Quinlan is hot.

And it's not the fact that there is explicit sex in the movie, it's the fact that unlike Kids, it's there for absolutely no reason except maybe for the twisted pleasure of the director.

hehe, funny you should say that because I've always thought Larry Clarck was a pedophile in disguise. Like what's with those unecessary 'upskirt' shots, they add what to the movie exactly? You're right about Bully being unbeleivably bad too, it reminded me of one of those really stupid after school specials we used to get on tv here years ago, only 'R' rated..

I just got back from this British movie called 'Dear Frankie' with Emily Mortimer and Gerald Butler. a great emotional drama. the movie is set in Glascow. have you guys heard of it?

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0377752/

it also has a great soundtrack with a really awesome song from Damien Rice called 'Delicate' (Y)
Yeah, I went to a preview screening of it a few months back, can't remember if I wrote about it though. I thought it was quite good, certainly very original and quite touching in many ways, but not a world beater - I'm expecting Millions to be like it but better.

Bully actually happened in real life, thats what its based on. Towards the end of the movie when they're sitting in court, that conversation is a real conversation taken from the courtroom recordbooks.

And in the DVD u can actually see photos of the real life characters and how much prison time they got.

Just watched Sideways. After reading about it here and reading so much good about it everywhere I just had to go see it and I can tell you it certainly didn't disapoint! In fact it went beyond my expectations, defenitely movie of the year (since it was only released recently here) and perhaps one of my favourite movies of all time.

Extrememly funny, engaging, brilliant acting by the whole cast. I never thought it would be this funny but Thomas Haden Church is brilliant as is Paul Giamatti. That asian chick has a nice ass and Virginia Madsen is quite a milf. All good!:p

Yeopgijeogin geunyeo - My Sassy Girl

Based on a series of true stories posted by Ho-sik Kim on the Internet describing his relationship with his girlfriend. These were later transformed into a best-selling book and the movie follows the book closely. It describes the meeting of Kyun-woo (Cha) and an unnamed girl. Kyun-woo is shamed into assisting the girl because the other passengers mistakenly think she is his girlfriend. Once he helps her, Kyun-woo develops a deep sense of responsibility for her which enables him to tolerate (somehow) the girls abuses. [From IMDB]

This has gotta be one of the best Asian films i've ever seen. It's a romantic comedy and its absolutely hilarious. I've also come to know from IMDB that Hollywood are doing a remake. I HATE REMAKES and to make things worse it's being directed by Gurinder Chadha!

i watched Apocalypse now yesterday. i know, this film is old(1979, i guess) but i never could watch up to the end because it lasts more than three hours. now i finally watched it. the war is shown there very realistic and even if you don't understand the essence you should see it only because of how is the war shown there.

I watched "Dazed and Confused" last night. Richard Linklater's stoner comedy from the 80's. never seen it before.
awesome movie. between this one and Fast Times at Ridgemont High its really clear that the 70s and 80s were the best times to be in school :D (Y)

Last night I watched Duck Soup - hadnt seen it for quite a while, plus you can never catch all the oneliners in one sitting. Goddam it's funny, the songs kinda suck and I dont like Harpo's visual gags but Groucho and Chico's 'quick-ones' are amazing.

I searched here and I found out that Virgo called it a masterpiece. totally agree. and you Sir_Didier_Drogba were going to try and watch it. have you?

Virgo:

Requiem for a Dream is probably the most shocking movie I ever seen. It's a masterpiece.

Much more serious than other British gangster movies but still a good watch.

I still havent seen Requiem for a Dream. I really must try to.

I actually prefer Layer Cake to Lock Stock and Snatch, TOON ARMY, though maybe cos it's the only one I saw at the cinema. Daniel Craig is fast becoming one of my favourite young actors, adding this to his awesome performance in Enduring Love, plus Michael Gambon's cameo is (Y)
