Lack of control

Even though they say this game isn't "scripted" like the other one this game has so many things that seem like pre-destined that I'm beginning to doubt the claim.
Picture this: The ball is loose. Two players run towards it. The one that has twice as long way to the ball than the other is naturally controlled by the cpu. I think: "Oh yeah a rebound and I'll be the first to catch it." Then comes the Divine Intervention. My player stops running straight towards the loose ball and curves. He makes a round trip just long enough for the cpu player to get the ball. :lui:
Naturally there's the same "realistic" feature that also plagued PES4. Cpu crosses the ball into the box and my defender does not obey commands to head the ball coming towards him and let's the cpu player score. When I watch the replay I begin to wonder if the cpu had already decided the outcome when the ball crossed...

I wonder what Konami come up with next year. Give the cpu additional players? Reduce the number of mine?

The more these thing make the game frustrating the more it begins to feel like FIFA and we all know that's not the right way...

PS: Sorry for bringing FIFA into this. This is not EA's fault...

the problem is the CPU needs to cheat in order to score becuase the AI is inept at creating scoring chances. If it didn't cheat you would finish entire seasons undefeated.

I hate going for headers and my player doesn't jump at all or I go to hit a first time shot and my player just stands there.

Konami are going the wrong way about getting the CPU to win. They should make the opposition smarter, not disable your players or make them do things you didn't ask them to do!

In defense of the developers... A year is not that long of a time period to make AI play better/smarter...
That being said, i actually think the cpu contolled players are dumber this year than they were last year. So, not only have they failed at making them smarter, they've managed to make them dumber. grrrrrr

I swear i don't remember going 5-6 games in a row with clean sheets in PES4/WE8. However, in PES5, this is a common thing. :nape:

I know exactly what you mean. It is very frustrating.

The most ****tiest thing is that konami didnt realise this happens also when you play HUMAN opponents. Especially people who hold down X + [] all the time.
Because that way the CPU does most of the defending for them. And since there is a built in "cheat" system in the defending AI I find myself always an inch too late too the ball and more of that "stuff"
Im not a fan of holding X + [], but when you play someone who does, the game becomes bollocks. :kader:

hey there, i'm new to the forums.

It's true, the same cheating rules apply when playing versus another human opponent, so i sometimes wonder if they are cheats or just scripted gameplay.

I was stating these things which were present even in the demo but most people here were thinking that i was crap or whatever other reason.Don't forget also that when you choose manual mode, the cpu changes your players sometimes. How come? For crying out loud, you choose manual mode to change player whenever YOU want.Pfffffffff this is what pisses me off,all these KNOWN bugs and cheats Konami has used (every new version of PES seems to have more and more cheats & bugs). Also look at EVERY,I MEAN EVERY PES review. The key of the game reviews was it's UNSCRIPTED gameplay. There simply isn't any unscripted gameplay in the latest version, people should face it and accept the fact that this year's PES version is not good and i'm affraid that PES6 will have amazing graphics BUT will have the same cheats and bugs with PES5.

Oh and yeah there are random cheats enabled even in the online games.I've played some and i was "lucky" but today here is what happened.I was ready to shoot and an opponent player "pushed me" from behind. The referee didn't give anything and i lost the ball. After a while the opponent is attacking and makes a through pass.I see it and i'm pressing the triangle button (goalkeeper button). Here is what happened.WHILE PRESSING IT the goalkeeper stop (yeap,he simply stopped) running towards the ball, the opponent got the ball and scored a goal as the goalkeeper couldn't do anything usefull. How lovely gameplay, lol  .

I can win on 5 and 6 star; however, I play on 4 star, because I find it the most realistic and least amount of 'cheating'.

use supercancel

I wish i could use the supercancel button on people who tell me that supercancel is the solution to every problem in this game (right after those who love to tell me that I should "practice more")-- even though they should know that supercancel does DAMN NOTHING when applied in said situations, because quite obviously -- AS THESE SITUATIONS ARE SCRIPTED, the script will render the supercancel button useless.

And BTW, nothing against the country and its people, but could it be that Portugal has the biggest PES fanboy fraction ever? Whenever someone is feeling the need to defend their beloved PES against imagined assaults, or thinks they need to enrich the forums with comments such as the above, more often than not there seems to be a portuguese flag involved.

haha i agree, and what is the use of supercancel when the cpu switch away your player even though you have manual switching on :boohoo:

Indeed, i dont play too much against he CPU but some of my friends do this crap on defending and it just gets really really really crappy after a while. At times the game seems soo scripted that i cant even believe that Konami decided to put out this game when it was obivously not ready to be released. I would have rather waited 6 more months or a year or however long they needed to make this game perfect.

use supercancel

smartest thing said in this whole thread. I'm pretty tired of reading these complaints based on ONE-time experiences, I dont wanna look like a 'fan-boy' as immature as the labeling gig is, but hey what do you expect now and days, but use supercancel and if you use it consistently and accurately you will be surprised on what you can do.

im also unsubscribing from this thread and the other one 'cause i'm sick of reading complaints, its pathetic.

If its constructive criticism that is different, but all I've ever seen on this forum is complaints, you guys don't know how much better we've got it here as consumers of Konami rather than EA. It could be a whole lot worse, I mean ALOT worse. I'm not settling either, but I'm not going to make threads about how I hate KONAMI and completely bash their efforts, if you don't like the game its really taht simple DO NOT BUY IT, read reviews, you know what you're getting yourself into; it's like complaining of the smoke in a smoking room, or complaining at a whore-house saying you "didn't feel loved".

I am indeed writing Konami myself concerning certain issues, the crowd, weather in ML ,etc - but its in a constructive manner, you guys need to really grow up, i know its hard, but carry yourselves as consumers and have that mindset helping a corporation achieve a better game. They've made a great game this year, not kind to beginners, not kind to Arcade gamers, its all about the sim engine and its perfect - I feel like I have to work for every goal, I can't just move around and dribble past players like I was a god. There is indeed a AI pressuring flaw, but it can be fixed.

Once someone releases a new PES5 Editor I'll get working on my gameplay patch, something great about being on a PC with supplied ratings that can be altered, is that I have the possibility to do anything.

Call me what you will, but I honestly don't care, this forum has really downgraded throughout the years, but I guess the amount of diversity will load that kind of manner into constant bashing. Nough said, take care and hopefully someone can react with a mature approach in response.

oh and sepakbola while your on it, tell me how i apply supercancel to prevent my player auto switching(at critical moments), while i have manual switching on
thanks m8.

Autoswitching apart, what gets on my nerves in PES4/WE8 (have both, don't have PES5) is when instead of running for the ball or towards an opponent, my player almost grinds to a halt, and begins a "funny walk" of sorts, with his knees bent. They normally do this during throw-ins (although why a player can't run normally when the other team is taking a throw-in is beyond me), but it also happens during open play.

I mean, I'm attacking, the ball is crossed into the penalty area; the defender clears it; 1 player from each team is running towards it but suddenly my player begins his bunny hop and the defender clears the ball. Wow, great defending that.

Yeah, and if anyone is wondering - supercancel does **** all.
