You can buy Paint shop pro which isn't quite as good as PhotoShop but it does the job

Use multiple layers.

The first layer use the screen opacity and put the same layer on top of it with multiply opacity. Adjust the brightness and contrast. And then play a bit with it to find more effects by yourself . . .

in photoshop 8 how do you make the kit black but still have the texture, i can do other colours using the layer as multiply but not black, plz help

The same as above . . .

I suggest all of you to do experiments with layers, use double, triple layers if you want to and create your own effects. Just keep on practicing, and you`ll find the answers. I think the whole first page of this thread have conclude every basic thing you need to know to make kits. Just enhanced the knowledge you get from there . . .

Curs, I think he wanna know how to change the colour of a black Adidas logo into white/red/ anything . . . :)

OK, once you`ve done all the Curswine steps at page 2, all you have to do now is double click on your logo layer, and then choose colour overlay effect. By default it will usually be red, so click on the red-coloured box and then change the red to the colour of your choice.

well the way i make kits shiny is by using one mulitply layer...with a screen layer on top of it set to -180...then i duplicate that...and play about with opacity

so your layer palette should look like this

Screen (set to -180 brightness , and fiddled with opacity)
Screen (set to -180 brightness)
Multiply
