What is 2GK 2004?
2GK, short for 2nd Generation Kits, is a new way of making kits in the FIFA Series. Basically, it increases the size of the kit texture, but keeping the template UV mapping the same. This, in simpler terms, means that the kits in your copy of FIFA 2004 will look sharper and in greater quality.
This new technology is not a new phenomenon, as it has been present for the last few versions of FIFA (FIFA 2000, 2001, 2002 and 2003). Soccer Access and 2GK's main author Ariel Santerelli, have provided FIFA fans of yesteryear not only great quality kits, but also many features never thought before. However, this year, 2GK is better than it has ever been.
Being a joint project by FIFA ECP and Soccer Access, involving talented programmers and kit makers of both sites, we have made 2GK possible for FIFA 2004 with countless number of possibilities. This is due to the fact that Hercules (FIFA ECP) has made this technology possible, while Ariel Santarelli (Soccer Access) has made the 2GK raptor itself, bundled with the excellent in-game previewer named DRC (Dressing Room Cinematic). This means that 2GK 2004 would see the best of both sites and their technology, meaning more possibilities for you. Furthermore, the joining of forces between two of the greatest FIFA fan sites mean that there is only one format for all you fans, allowing you to create patches and release them with no compatibility issues.
What are the requirements for 2GK 2004?
2GK 2004 only works if you have a full installation of FIFA Football 2004 or FIFA Soccer 2004 on the PC. 2GK 2004 does not support any console version (PS2, Gamecube, XBox etc) and there are absolutely no plans for this. Your version of FIFA 2004 must also be functioning properly before you install 2GK 2004, i.e. it does not crash.
Does 2GK 2004 work on computers with low specifications, e.g. with a 32Mb Graphics card?
It is desirable that you have at least a 64Mb Graphics card. However, it has also been tested with a 32Mb graphics card, and it works properly when you only install 2GK kits for outfield players and goalkeepers (NOT referees). If the game crashes after you have installed 2GK kits for a specific team and that teams with no 2GK kits function properly, then simply decrease the number of 2GK kits used by the game. i.e. use 2GK kits only for outfield players and do not install them for goalkeeper kits or referee kits. With a 64Mb graphics card, no such issues have been found during testing.
Do I have to install 2GK kits for all the teams after I install 2GK 2004?
No, you can use a combination of 2GK kits and the original EA Sports 1GK kits.
What are the dimensions for a 2GK kit?
Width: 512 pixels; Height: 1024 pixels. With layout exactly the same as EA Sports 1GK kit.
