Jamie Redknapp set for move to Southampton

Becks is God

Reserve Team
Tottenham have agreed to allow club captain Jamie Redknapp to join Premiership strugglers Southampton on a free transfer.

The move will see the 31-year-old former England midfielder team up with his father, manager Harry Redknapp, at St Mary's providing he passes a medical on Tuesday afternoon.

The ex-Liverpool star has started just nine Premiership games for Spurs this term and admitted he would have struggled to force his way into Martin Jol's young team on a regular basis.

"I have enjoyed my time at Tottenham but, as the team has developed, there has been a healthy increase in competition for places and I have found myself on the bench more than on the pitch," he told Spurs' official website.

"At this stage in my career I want to be playing more so I had a chat with Frank (Arnesen), Martin and the chairman and asked them to let me go.

"They were great about it and Martin even said when I finish playing to come and talk to him and about a coaching role."

Redknapp started his career at Bournemouth before joining Liverpool for £350,000 in 1991 and, despite struggling with injuries throughout his 11 years at Anfield, made more than 230 top-flight appearances for the Reds.

He joined Spurs in 2002 after being released by Liverpool and made 53 first-team appearances for the White Hart Lane outfit, captaining the team for the past 18 months.

Redknapp's move to Southampton comes after Spurs agreed to allow Calum Davenport to move to St Mary's on loan for the rest of the season.

The unluckiest player in football maybe? along with people like Darren Anderton or Woodgate.
Although his choice of lifestyle might have something to do with it, but that's another story.

This is going to be a very interesting move, obviously coz he'll be teaming up with daddy. Watch out for Soton in the 2nd half of the season!
