It's official: The Special One goes to Inter

Mourinho the man for Inter Milan

José Mourinho has replaced Roberto Mancini as Inter coach
FC Internazionale Milano have confirmed the appointment of José Mourinho as their new coach on a three-year contract. The 45-year-old replaces Roberto Mancini who was dismissed by the Italian champions last Thursday.

Great success
Mourinho returns to club management nine months after leaving Chelsea FC, whom he won the Premier League title with in both 2005 and 2006. The Portuguese trainer had previously lifted the UEFA Cup with FC Porto in 2003 and the UEFA Champions League in 2004 before quitting his homeland to take up the reins at Stamford Bridge. The self-proclaimed 'Special One' achieved immediate success with Chelsea, leading them to their first championship in 50 years four seasons ago before repeating the feat the following year, as well winning the FA Cup and the League Cup twice while in London.

European goal
Mourinho twice took Chelsea to the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League and will be looking to go one better with Inter who have not won the competition since 1965. Mancini led Inter to three straight Serie A titles, ending the Nerazzurri's 17-year wait for the Scudetto in the process, but could not deliver on owner Massimo Moratti's greatest desire to win the UEFA Champions League, which will now be Mourinho's priority. Giuseppe Baresi, a former Inter player currently in charge of the club's youth system, will work as Mourinho's assistant.

I'm curious how much Mourinho will change Inter.(H)

IMO:

Firstly he will raid Chelsea for Drogba, Lampard and probably the Portuguese contingent there - Deco from Barca would be a fair bet too. A front line of Ibrahimovic and Drogba would be fairly terrifying.

I think he'll build Inter from the back as he did at Chelsea but at the same time play aggressive attacking football.

Mikey, thats newspaper talk mate, and although you might like this to happen, I very much doubt that it will. Carvarlho won't leave, nor will Lampard. Drogba changes his stance as often as I change my shorts, so it's clear that nobody really knows what he wants, including himself.

Inter Fans, I wish you all the best of luck. I think you are going to need it.

Well I said I thought that's what he'd do - Managers often try and surround themselves with players they know, look at when he joined Chelsea and look at Benitez at Liverpool. I think Chelsea will be rebuilding extensively this summer so departures really wouldn't surprise me at all and logically I could see Drogba following Mourinho and Carvalho at least pondering it.

I admit it's nice when rivals lose class players, you'll admit yourself that you'd cream yourself if Cristiano goes this summer :D

Meh. I doubt the likes of Lampard would leave. Where would Inter get ALL that money? All the talk of Carvalho, Essien and Drogba going there is absurd.

1.) Chelsea are not a selling club.
2.) Essien alone should cost £40m +
3.) Drogba £20m +
4.) Carvalho £15m +
5.) Lampard £15m +

What are you trying to imply there? Mourinho is a genius man, that should be more like good luck to the other teams.

You do not know what it feels like to have him in charge of your club, so you are not talking from experience.

When everything is going to plan, as a fan you tend to overlook the negatives, but when it all starts to fall apart, then you will see what a huge ego coupled to self preservation, can do to your club.

We had 2 fantasic seasons with Jose. From season 3, things went from bad to worse, until finally he publicly turned on the players and blamed them for his mistakes. Basically by season 3, he had lost the plot, and tactically had become very very predictable.

Thats why I say good luck to Inter. Maybe Jose will surprise me and last longer than 3 seasons there, but I doubt it.

Perhaps that's why he doesn't last very long at the clubs he works for. He tends to be very one dimensional as a coach. Once other teams wise up to his tactics, he does not have an alternative strategy, which is why season 3 for us was not so good.

Can't see Lampard leaving tbh, no way. Drogba on the other hand I'd say there's a bigger chance of him joining Jose than staying.

As a neutral I'm glad he's back in management even though his bullsh*t and sometimes pettiness can get tiring at times. Surely a date with Chelsea in the CL next season is on the cards now!

I feel worse for Jose than Inter tbh. I don't think he'll turn it around because they've already done so well. They can be more consistent and better in the CL but they've been good in the Serie A last two seasons. Jose isn't just gonna come in and win every game. It's the club not the manager. Still think the attack is great and the back is meh. It's a great appointment but don't expect miracles.

ha ha ha ... what a joke of a guy you are. good luck to inter? i say good luck to chelsea. your club are in serious turmoil, finishing the season trophiless after spending over a billion dollars and you sacastically send good luck to a team that has won the title 3 years in a row?

you talk about the 3rd season of Jose at chelsea? do you actually know your facts about your club? if you wanted Jose to dominate like the first 2 years, why did you not tell your owner to stop meddling in his affairs? and stop making jose's life hell. maybe if there was peace and tranquility, jose will concentrate on the game, rather than spending half the time at his lawyers office and the second half looking over his shoulder for avram grant holding a knife? and you wonder why your owner bought a 4 million dollar ferrari for jose? to apologise for making the poor mans life a living hell during the 3rd year.

Oh!! how many years did it take your next coach - grant to get found out by 'other managers?" 6 months?

you are also quite a liar, calling jose one dimentional. or perhaps, you are not lying, you are just frustrated at your clubs lack of silverware and see the need to attack someone. everyone who knows football know that jose is one of the most un-one dimensional coaches in the game. hell, Wenger has used the 4-4-2 formation for over 10 years, and had to be begged to change it during champions league game. However, if you actually watched chelsea - as you claim to be a chelsea fan - you will know that jose does not finish a match with the formation he starts with. i will take your attention to a game, cannot remember the team chelsea played now - was it Bolton? when Jose subbed both Cole and SWP in the first 30 mins? he actually played 5 different formations in that game. also cast your mind back to the Valencia games, the totenham (3-3) gamee.t.c.... my firend, i know football like the back of my hand, and actually spend my weekends "grazing' through evry league. jose being one dimentional is a complete lie!

Furthermore, I am prepared to make a bet that Jose will win the champions league TWICE before chelsea wins it. I am inviting you to take this bet. Inter fans, you have got the best coach in the world, you have no need to be worried. it seems more to me that this pellow Pede - is upset with jose for something. an anger that is clearly misplaced. you should be angry at your Roman for meddling and misbehaving. lets see who your team hires next? Rijkaard? Hughes? LOL... lets see how they compete.

As for transfers -

I think Inter will get Essien and Carvalho. both players will push for the transfer and chelsea will have no choice but to sell (dont believe that silly fergie claim of "i rather place him in the reserves." that does not happen in modern day football).

As for Drogba, I am not sure. i think he will go to Milan or Real Madrid. he is a very close friend of Jose, but it does not mean they must work together.

As for lampard, it makes more sense that he remain at chelsea. i do not think he is good for Serie A.

oooh, wrong wrong wrong. The rest of the post was quite alright, but that bit right there doesn't show that you know what you are talking about, old mate...

Mourinho left Benfica because he wanted to, due to problems with the board, but he left them after two or three straight wins...he took Leiria to their best position ever and got "stolen" by Porto near the end of the season...the success he brought to Porto was only stopped because of Chelsea's money, because he had won everything, and because of, again, personal problems...also, there are too few managers that remained with the club for more than two seasons to remember (Jesualdo Ferreira is the first exception in yeaaars)...

As you see, in Mourinho's previous clubs, everything but tactical narrow mindedness contributed to his leaving..

Should be an exciting season.

I hope Essien comes but Chelsea might not want to let him go. Indifferent about Drogba. Lampard I don't think is coming, when do English players ever go to Italy?

I feel lucky to be an Inter fan right now... thank you Moratti's cha-ching. I think Mourinho will like Moratti very much if he gives him lots of cash and freedom on players... Perfect situation for him.

Baldwin Bazuaye. No need to get so personal mate, even if you are an idiot.

First of all my friend, you read too many sh1te newspapers. I can tell by your media inspired opinions.

Second...I am not a Jose groupie like you and some others on here. I know what Jose did at Chelsea, and I appreciate the positive things. I also am aware of his negative side and believe me, he does have a negative side.

As Fili pointed out, wherever he goes he experiences "personal problems", and ends up at loggerheads with the boardroom. That is not a coincidence. Like most geniuses, he is somewhat fu<ked up in his head. He is immature and can behave like a spoilt child if he does not get this own way, and when he does not get his own way, he throws his toys out of the pram and sulks BIG TIME.

Sorry to point these things out about your hero and the focus of your wet dreams, but that is the way he is.

Lets see how long he remains on good terms with Morratti shall we?
