Is FIFA GREAT??? NEED TO KNOW

(To let People know I have the Game but Have not opened it yet b/c I sent my Xbox 360 to get fixed a week ago & it stills has not got back to me and they told me that I might have it back by monday, so I am waiting!!! and reading a lot of reviews to get an idea of how it is)

Question, maybe I should have started a thread, but I wanted to know is FIFA 07 really as good as people are saying or am i getting my hopes up?
A little about myself, I was a great FIFA fan from 94 thru 2000 then I jumped to Pro Evolution Soccer; but I want to get back to Fifa b/c of the insane graphics and authenticity that they have as well as having their **** together when it comes to Online Play which PES clearly does not, but the FIFA game play was always a little arcade like for my taste (Fun but not realistic), and that's why I made the jump to Pro Evolution Soccer. I liked PES's simulation of the game b/c I played soccer my whole life (Rec, Club, High School, College and even 2 years pro in Spain's 2nd Division with Racing Ferrol, which kills me b/c a dream of mine was always to be in the FIFA game and 2 years after I came back to the states FIFA introduced Spain's 2nd Division, at least I was on Total Club Manager; which they gave me a unrealistically high rating.)
But the reason that I stated my playing career, and sounded like a conceited asshole, was to illustarte that people (Friends of mine and people online) who actually played soccer at any level (REC-Club-High School etc.) always seemed to have made their way to Pro Evolution Soccer, b/c of their game play. So I hear that FIFA 07 on Xbox 360's game play is fun but does it mimic PES or is it still arcade like? I read the IGN review and even not being able to play FIFA 07 it sounds like that guy is way off and clearly has never step on a pitch! b/c he complained about passes not getting to his teammates???!!! well Sh*$t when the hell have you seen a soccer match that all the passes where spot on!!! or better yet with the through ball??? Of course its going to be difficult, its difficult in Real Life & if not we would being seeing 10 goals per game in Real LIFE?!!??!?!?!
I Hope to the FIFA gods that he is wrong as I really want to get back to FIFA. My hope was always to have a game that played like PES but with Graphics-Online Play-Authenticity of FIFA, Am I asking too much or is FIFA 07 the Game I have been waiting for?

Other Questions:
(1) In the League do you actually get play some games at night and some during the Day. Or is it ALL NIGHT GAMES or ALL DAY GAMES? Can decide what time you play?
(2) Weather = Does the Sun Move Around and the Weather change like in NCAA 07 & Madden 07?
(3) Can you edit Players during manager mode? If so can give players different shoes, untuck their shirts, Give them Long Sleeve Shirts?
(4) How is the online play, is it smooth with no lag or crashing?
(5) Hows the AI? Is like Pes where players make smart runs?

I have lived in 3 countries, played football all my life, from semi-pro to nationals so I know this game, now I am not saying that to just beep my horn, I am trying to show that I know this game.

The first day I got this game I was disappointed because it didn't play like the demo, I thought they ruined it but as I kept playing it, I noticed that it was much better than the demo, so the first 2 days I thought this game was "good" but as I kept playing it by the 3rd and 4th day, I have changed my mind and realized I have short changed this game, it's not good, it's GREAT! it's not perfect but the gameplay is great from thestandpoint of all the intangibles of the game, the part I love is that even though every aspect needs work it still plays great. how is that possible? I mean game borders on, dare I say it, Photorealism, I have never seen a sports game in any genre so realistic as this game is to soccer.

The best part for me about this game is this game is like a hallway, not much to it but then you notice one door, then another, then another even better it's what's behind those doors, I use to think this game wasn't an open game like Pro Evo sending long balls, stretching the D. I thought the defence was intercepting way too many of my long passes till I started to figure it out, this game is deep, at times the defence was playing back where pretty much nothing can get above their heads, but then I started to use my head and think what would I do in a real game and saw that it worked start to exploit a tired defence where I can get a speedy Henri behind the D, how about the fact that I noticed that the D learns from you, D noticed I am a patient player who likes to build my passes from the back so they started to push up and flood the passing lanes, showing me no respect, totally controlling the midfield. I had to use skillful fast midfielder to bust through the midfield to keep the computer honest. This game is unreal!

When I play this game, I look at this game, it feels like 11 individuals on the pitch, all with distinct characteristics, so you have to play their strengths, play their weakness and you get burned, for instance in Pro Evo I could beat people all day with Roberto Carlos speed and dribbling ability, well in FIFA I tried the same and it was a disaster. I realized there was a reason Roberto was in the back, good speed to make a charge from time to time but that was it.

Dude I could go on. I love Pro Evo and I have to admit PES is a little more loose and free spirited like a Brazilian team but this FIFA is more like a Dutch team which has the potential to be free spirited but also possesses the tactical abilities of the Germans, so what I am trying to say is that this game is deep, deeper than Pro Evo IMO.

So I disagree with everyone in here, I first gave this game's gameplay an 8 well I have changed my mind, I will actually give this game a close 9 because hands down IMO it is the most fun, realistic sports game I have ever played.

Both air and ground, it's possible. and it is very possible to slide tackle successfully. I've done it tons of times. Plus, the ref, for themost part allows the game to flow nicely. Did I metion the animations??? My God!

Thanks LUVPES, it sounds like you know what you are talking about, same with OVNY (I think you guys see the game of soccer the same way I do) It's not all about long balls, but actually having to think on your feet and make quick decisions like in a real match.
Well damn I am more eager than ever to get playing with this game, I might just have to go down to Best Buy or Gamestop and see if they have it on display to play it for the first time. It also sounds like what I want out of soccer videogame:
-a game that with every match you play you must approach differently, Ex: maybe one game I play a 4-3-3 to spread their defense wide, or maybe another match I play a classical 4-4-2 to control the Midfield, or if I need a result and the team sits back I play a 3-4-3.

YES, YES, YES!!!! exactly, the refs are very fair IMO, the red cards I saw given out were warranted and heh! what's a football match without a red card controversy but I also have slide tackled committed the foul and received no card, sometimes a yellow.

This game is spooky maybe EA knew something we didn't by releasing this game halloween it's almost bewitched. It's like every game plays differently, now I know, different teams, different styles right?! but it is somethin else, it's as if the more you learn to play this game the right way, the game starts to morph, it's like your molding it, it's hard to explain and everytime I think I have this game pegged the more you play the more it proves me wrong, like the red cards, slide tackling, long balls etc.....I think the reviewers have to look at this game again because they were so wrong.

I use to rave about NFL 2K animations but these animation are next gen, this is what I expected when I bought my 360 and HDTV.

It is very next gen. You can even tell by the menus. Many people complain about them. They say they get lost in menus, it's not practical enough. I felt this way, but now that I know where everything is, problem solved. This is a very easy game to forgive its flaws. O.K. imagine this scenario:

Next year EA puts out FIFA 2008, adds all the leagues back, adds tournament creation, fine tunes gameplay, fixes audio bugs, stretches intro scenes, makes challenge mode easier.

menus are real nice but letters are too small.. i have vision problems at distance so i have to shove my face in the tv..sometimes lol..

PS: My 360 crashed after 3 wks.. playing less then 1 hour a day.. didnt get the warranty or anything.. but I had the 30 days return policy THANKS GOD i called best buy today.. im gettin a new set again..

I don't know if its that or something else but after playing a game for less then an hour offline or online a message pops up saying "Disc cannot be read, use soft cloth to clean it" etc..and the disc is brand new.. so could be a defective system.

I've heard horror stories about 360 and still bought it like a dope. When did you buy it? I think the majority of the defective ones are the first batch

I bought it 30 days ago bro.. today is the 30th day and THANKS GOD I called BestBuy. When I purchased the system they give you 30 days return policy..so today is the 30th day.. I didn't wanna pay extended return policy or even longer warranty.. will go and pick up another (new) 360 today.

A guy from XBOX forums told me.. all xbox 360's are defective in some ways... either out of the box..as soon as you get it..or down the road..

My modded PS2 is a tank .. dropped.. it.. never turned it off..uptime time was like 5 weeks once.. never overheated .. I also think its waterproof lol..

Anyways.. I added you to my friends list.. so approve me..lookin forward playin games with you..since ur in NY and I'm in Boston
