I guess the next step is keeping the group of players that won the CL together.

The big problem is filling the vacant post left by Jose.
I read in the papers that Sneijder was quoted to having preferred Guus Hiddink.

I can't think of any other names tbh. The other one is Roy Hodgson, but I doubt Inter will want him anyways.

Benitez and Pellegrino are in the mix. And Mihajlovic but I would hate to have him, he was a very dirty player and spat on people.

The group will stay together, they are like a family with Zanetti, Cambiasso, Materazzi, Stankovic, Samuel, Maicon etc...

I remember that very clearly indeed. What was it? 2-3 times at Mutu, for no reason? Hopefully he won't get the Inter job, but its probably unlikely anyway.

Regardless whoever gets the position is in for a treat, like Mourinho said, his parting "gifts" for the upcoming Inter manager is the shot at the Italian Supercup, Intercontinental Cup, as well as the European Supercup.

Dougie Maicon is the only one I could see Mourinho coming back for ... and apart from him, I don't see any of the major contributors moving away ...

Mihajlović is replacing Prandelli at Fiorentina ...

the favourite for the job, as far as Moratti is concerned, is Fabio Capello ... and though I am not at all his fan, I think he'd best fits Moratti's requirement of a champion with experience to manage a champion team high on experience ... Super Mario Balotelli won't be dancing if Capello is appointed, but we can discuss that when the time comes ...

I don't rate Rafa Benítez at all ... same goes for Pellegrini ... I can see either being Héctor Cúper part 2 ...

the outside shot is Fatih Terim, but I think it is more likely he ends up with a team like Doria than at Inter ...

Siniša was an extremely talented player, and a born leader ... him spitting at Mutu does not change that ... and if anyone has watched Catania this year, they will know exactly why Mihajlović is being considered -- his Catania side played with a real attacking verve, and took on (and took out) the big teams (including a full-strength Inter) with commanding displays ... I'm really looking forward to seeing what he can do with a Fiorentina team who are low on confidence, but who have shown under Prandelli in the last 2 seasons that they can play some attractive attacking football ...

EDIT 2:

add Luciano Spalletti to the shortlist ...

Benitez is now free, like Pelligrini!!! Benitez won CL, and seems to be very loyal, a good profil I think!

A lot of Maicon rumors of him going to Real.

I don't mind this too much although he is one of our best players and an amazing right back. He is going to be 29 next season so we will get the most money for him right now. He was also better 2 seasons ago, playing attacking right back perfectly. He has improved defensively tho in the last 2 years.

I would NOT like Benitez at Inter. He has a good history but his recent performances just isn't convincing to try to keep up this trend and good form that Inter is up on right now. Plus, he'd be trying to get in 8 Spanish players anyways and would ruin the club... I really hope a good replacement is found so that this trend can continue both domestically and internationally.

where did you hear that? coz that can only be good news for Inter fans ... unfortunately, all the Italian tabloids still have Rafa as a strong contender for the Inter job, now that Capello is almost guaranteed not to be the new coach ...

Horatiu;2880674 said:
I would like Zenga to be brought.
any particular reason? coz it's not on his teams' performaces, surely?

I'd have preferred Moratti taking a gamble on Siniša Mihajlović ... he has an attacking setup for his teams, and has a strong presence about him -- an important factor in the wake of the Special One ... but like I said in my previous post, he was already on his way to Fiorentina ... they made it official earlier today: http://it.violachannel.tv/dettaglio-ultimora/items/id-1.4339.html ...

Hiddink was being touted as an outside shot; I just don't see it happening, though I think that would be one of the best options following Mourinho ...

so, of the names left (that have been linked to the post), my preference would be Luciano Spalletti (and his 4-2-3-1) ... the drawback is that he lacks a real commanding presence ...

there aren't many/any other top options ... sadly it looks like Rafa could be in pole position ...

Mihajlovic is a scum bag, I don't care if he is attacking and has a strong presence.

About Rafa.. I heard it on some gossip site and that Berlusconi is a fan of his. He wouldn't be the worse choice but not the best either, maybe he can click with the Argentinians in the squad.. he had a few at Liverpool too.

And I'd like Zenga just because he is a true Interista. He also has gained some important coaching experience over the years. I also remember he had some success in Romania. I'd also rather Moratti go with some younger foreign managers instead of the same old Capello or Lippi.

purely coz he spit at the druggie Mutu? or do you have other reasons?

Rafa clicking with the aging Argentinians isn't going to make the difference ... plus, he is completely untested in calcio, and has shown himself to be severely incompetent on the transfer front ...

yeah, Lippi and Capello can take a hike, but I'd have loved to see Trappatoni at Inter!! (H)

and why specifically foreign? coz Gasperini, for his innovative attacking ideas, deserves a shot at the big time more than anyone else I know of in the rest of Europe ...

I've watched him play a lot of Inter games and I never liked his attitude, always played dirty and always had an arrogant attitude. I don't even know about the Mutu incident. I have seen him spit on at least another Serie A player (probably more). Anyone who spits I can't respect in my book.

People on a big Inter forum also agree with my view and don't want Miha.

And Gasperini would be my #1 Italian manager choice too. He can be reunited with Milito and Motta too.

fair enough ... maybe I'm a little biased, coz I grew up with Serbs ... but I don't think a person's skill as a manager can be judged on whether a player used to spit or not ... I remember reading about Rijkaard spitting at Rudi Völler ... Totti got banned from EURO 2004 for spitting ... Zidane had a spitting incident in mid 90s ... and spitting aside, there are other disgraceful acts ... for example, Bergkamp, who always tried to land hard on players with his studs as he rode challenges ... all of it very "scummy" ... can't knock anyone's skill on that basis though, nor their managerial abilities ...

I thought his retirement was decided a month or so ago? I definitely remember reading about it ...

I'll always remember him for EURO 2000 more than anything ...

Hopefully he stays with the club as a coach or something. He seems like a really nice guy.
Moratti is very good at this, so I'd expect him to ensure strong ties between Toldo and the club ...

apropos, I was looking at the first post of this new season thread, and thought I could contribute a little something to it:

just a 1-minute MS Paint edit of the header used on the inter website ... I thought it was a good way to commemorate Mourinho & his team's historic achievements in the first post ...

would have posted this in a more common Serie A thread, but there is no such thing ... anyway, I like this nike ad campaign for inter, using animal symbology, but I can't figure all of it out ...

to state the obvious, the big bad snake is the Biscione of Inter ...

the eagle represents the Aquile of Lazio and Palermo ...

the wolf could have represented the Lupi of both Roma and Lecce, but the babies are surely Remus and Romulus, which would mean Roma ...

the dude with the pitchfork and horns represents the Diavoli of Milan ...

the zebra is a big one, so that would be the Zebre of Juve (as opposed to the Zebrette -- little zebras -- of Udine) ...

those are the obvious ones out of the way, but the others aren't exactly clear ... correct me if I'm wrong:

it looks like the rooster represents the Galletti of Bari (?) ...

the bull at the back could be the Toro of Torino? but they are in Serie B, so could hardly be considered rivals ...

no idea about the blindfolded guys ...
