Branca's just plain wrong ... and I was only partially right:

"The rules have been relaxed regarding what the English call "cup-tied" players, that is players who have already played for one team in a competition in a season, UEFA general secretary Gianni Infantino told Reuters.

"From next season, if a player's club is eliminated and he signs for a new club by the end of the summer transfer window on September 1 he can play for his new club in either competition.

"If he is not signed by the end of the summer window, he can move in the January window."

The one stipulation that remains is that clubs can add up to three new players in January, only one of whom will be eligible if they have previously played in the qualifying rounds.

they haven't bought anyone else who's played in the UCL qualifiers ... so Pazzo's good to go!

Great match to watch, too bad Pastore failed to deliver at two important times and set up a grandstand finish for Pazzini, they should have let him take the penalty though imo

I guess they changed the rules again for this season.
no, the quotes I posted were talking about this season ... but I think UEFA somehow count the "play-offs" as the tournament proper, while the "qualifying rounds" were the matches that led to the "play-offs" ... against Bremen, I remember the Champions League badge on the Samp jerseys, and the Champions League anthem playing at the Marassi, which in my experience is not normal protocol for qualifiers ... anyway, play-offs being considered the tournament proper is bullcrap, coz the Group Stage is the start of the tournament (just like the WC, EUROs, etc.) ... that sucks for Pazzo and Inter ... as long as they cruise past the Germans, and Italy's UEFA coefficient rises, that's all that matters to me ...

Damn. too bad about that news. Pazzini could've been valuable to us in the CL especially since Milito just doesn't cut it anymore.

Speaking of Milito, the miss he did today against Roma was terrible even if he was a bit un-balanced to take that shot. And speaking of Roma, what a goal-filled game today. Had my heart racing three times.

Forza Suarez! (ps brotha can you spare a dime?)
God damn Eto'o blows. 15 goals in Serie A and he misses two sitters when it matters most.

What the hell was Eto'o doing? You... just can't miss like that.

Other than that, poor game in general. We were shut out by Juventus but mainly because no one in our team made any offensive runs. Disappointing but we'll need to bounce back.

Awww, having trouble scoring goals?

Robben isn't (H)

I saw that and wow, great performance by Robben. He will most definitely be a threat to us in our soon encounter *cough*whichwewillwin*cough*

LOL. Van Gaal vs. Leonardo is one of the biggest coaching mismatches I've seen in awhile.

The win against Cagliari puts us up in second place(with a match more). We need to hope for Milan and Napoli to slip.

Haha Nagatomo's celebration (H).

A complete classic. I hope he does more goals just to see more of that (Y)

A good win anyway and it gets us prepared for the away match against Brescia which is a must-win to keep up with Milan.
