Injury Plagued

Well my training for tryouts starts tomorow (or Monday if I'm too tired), and if it's still bad, I'll talk to my parents about it.

Well if you're really serious about your soccer career then you better get serious about patching up that leg as well. I would go to a doc anyway because I wouldnt want any problems to crop up later in life.

Are your high schoool tryouts really going to have such a grand impact on the rest of your career? You're injured. Go and get advice from a professional.

You said it yourself, "every time i tried to play, i would pull [the ligament]", and "I still can't play due to pains whenever I kick or sprint". To conclude that you shouldn't bother getting it fixed is just being ignorant, unless you were exaggerating in the first place about your injury.

If you can't even run without feeling pain, how do you expect to perform in the tryouts? Don't let this injury ruin your career. Just get some professional advice, and if you do need surgery, you'll be good to go certainly by August. Maybe you won't make the team this year, but at the very least you can tell the coaches why you're not trying out. I think they'll understand, especially if you can show you're good enough to play next time you get the opportunity.

It will affect the rest of my career becuase if I don't make the high school team I won't be playing at all.

It's getting better I think, I went running Saturday morning just around the neighborhood and it didn't hurt too much. :)

Do you honestly think that not making some local high school team for one season due to an injury is going to destroy your career? Get real mate...

It's different where I live. High school is the only way I'm going to get to play soccer, and if I don't make it this year then the my chances of making it the next are slimmer.

Well you won't be able to make it this year if your hurting, so why even try if you could be much better the second year

One thing you have to consider how much you enjoy playing football and how you would feel if you never got to play again on the same level as before.

My advice would be a specialist, but not in the first place. I recommend that you visist your doctor or the local hospital and let them perform an x-ray scan. This will help concluding whether the bone is fractured or not.

I was once forced out for around 3 months due to a minor injury which proved to a fracture to the bone. In that case you will have to be patient. I cannot promise you that you will regain your old fitness but being patient won't make it worse. Anyways the x-ray scan will show the seriousness of your injury. In Denmark (where I live) our health insurence covers all medical expences so I wouldn't have to pay to see a specialist, but I don't know the laws in your country, mate.

Maybe you should try and slowly do some running and see if you can push your own limit. However, you should not proceed with this if you are in serious pain.

Jeez after reading your replies I can honestly say that none of you will ever make it even close to the top if your only advice is to give up and face facts. Every single professionel footballer wouldnt have gotten where they are today if it had not kept believing in difficult times...

The passion is everything, skills come second! Maybe you should consider that before letting out all this crap...How about giving some advice instead (those of you who have actually done so ignore this, please. The rest: Damn! Are you bitter cuz you've just realized you cant make it?)

I know being realistic is important but if you keep thinking in this way you won't ever get nowhere, believe me!

Last night I lifted ankle weights for half an hour to strengthen my groin. That's what I'll be doing every night in addition to running, cycling. :)

Well I 'm thinking about going back to my old club for a season or two. They're having free training sessions Tuesday Wednesday and Thursday so I'll check those out whenever I don't have too much homework.

if you're in high school, obviously training comes before homework. You can always finish up your homework after practice.
