Czech regional league player scores own goal then dies from heart attack
A 31-yearold footballer, playing in the Czech regional league, died of a heart attack on Saturday after scoring an own goal, according to the CTK news agency.
Michal Jezek collapsed and died nine minutes into the match between two villages northwest of Prague. After slamming the ball into his own net, he "collapsed on the pitch," said another player. The player added: "He didn't seem to have a health problem at all."
Doctors summoned to the match were unable to save Jezek. An ambulance spokeswoman said: "He had a heart attack and unfortunately we weren't able to resuscitate him."
Jezek was married and had a six-month old daughter.
