Another tragedy in football! :( Romanian goalkeeper Alexandru Iatan died at his first training with his new team (Dunarea Giurgiu). From the first details looks like he received a ball in the stomach during some penalty shoots.

The ambulance called at the stadium arrived very fast and they tried to resuscitate him, but he didn't seem to make better. They took him to the hospital on the way there he died.

R.I.P! :(

I hate these things ... he looked so young and talented ... R.I.P

I think Clubs should be more serious about their medical tests.

What medical tests? It's not even known what went wrong.

Usually, a medical when transferring to a new club takes about 3 hours. But anyway RIP, hope to get some more details.

I'm talking about general cases. Clubs should take medical tests for heart and other things at least every month, something like drug test program.

It's really sad to hear these news.

His team coach Marin Barbu said:
"It's unbelievable what happened. The boy was in the goal and he saved a penalty shoot, but the ball hit him in the stomach. He stepped up, saved some other penalty shoots. The doctors went to him but they didn't have anything to do. The police is coming today here, and tomorrow looks like they'll make an autopsy to see what happened. I can't explain myself, because the shoot which hit him wasn't so hard... And he wasn't even hit in in the head. And the guy who shooted, Ivaşcu, is devastated."

Dumnezeu sa-l odihneasca!

The guy who hit the penalty must have a really hard time trying to sleep... Anyway, it's not his fault. I wonder why Iatan didn't say anything. Wasn't he feeling something's wrong?

If you want to talk about general cases, the previous players who died of heart attacks had conditions that were virtually undetectable and occured under very little stress. You can't blame team doctors for these tragedies, especially when the cause of death isn't even known.

Sometimes its just fate. No matter how healthy you are or may seem to be. Not to sound too grim, but there things in the world that we cannot explain.

All previous cases regarding the death of footballers, all of them were explained in a medical sense through hindsight. When they were alive no one knew or realized if there was anything wrong. So for these cases, I don't think you can blame anyone.

Still sad news when someone that young dies. R.I.P
