I'm trying to play this game for almost a week now,but it's not smooth at all (in-game & menus),I tried everything i found on all other similar threads but nothing has worked so far.
My specs are: Pentium4 2.4 Ghz,512 MB Ram.Asus ATI 9200 SE and I'm running Catalyst 4.12.
Pes 3 worked perfectly well & smooth since i disabled v-sync.On this one i only get 35-55 fps even at 640x480 low.It's very annoying and practicaly unplayable :(
Wtf?I meet the minimum specs,I should be able to play the game decently at the lowest resolution and details,right? Can anyone help?Thanx in advance :rolleyes:

Yeah, you should be running smooth on lowest possible settings. How are you on disk space? If that's not an issue, perhaps give it a run without sound and see if that helps at all. I'm sure that you've tried it, but close every possible application you may have running.

If you still have no luck you might try going through this guide:

It was written to help people in preperation of the HL2 release. But its tips apply to anyone that want to maximize their system performance while 3d gaming.

John, he knows what hes talking about. I have almost the identical setup to you

p4 2.6
760 DDR
128 Radeon 9200 se

I followed the instructions as listed on that site and my game (system) flies now.

I set the 3d setting to optimal performance and PES4 is nice and smooth now, still with great graphics.

I asked santa for an 9800 since i can't afford it,but he propably doesn't exist and I will have to go on with the 9200,so I did the following to get the game working :
I followed the directions on the site posted by john (http://gear.ign.com/articles/554/554744p1.html) (defragment,downloaded TuneXP and did whatever the site recommended) + these Radlink settings:
Custom:
Process Priority => Above Normal
DirectX:
Anisotropic Filtering & Full Scene Antialising => Application Preference
Texture Preference & Mitmap Detail Level => High Performance
Z-Buffer Depth => 16
Wait for V-Sync => Always Off

fps fall bellow 60 only on the kick-off zoom-out & on certain goal celebrations,but it's 60 steady during gameplay.

btw... merry christmas :D

Merry Xmas to u too!

OK, did all that and can only get average 32-35 fps. What are u using to measure tour fps?

i'm using fraps,don't know if its reliable or not but the gameplay is really smooth so i believe that i do have 60fps.
the only thing i forgot to mention in my previous post is that i've set the bar on the direct3d properties to "Performance",but i don't think that this could make any difference.are you running the game at 640x480,medium details? the game becomes really choppy when i increase either the resolution or details :(

If Santa is dead then increase antialising or go get a job...so u can get money...so u can get graphic card...so u can get to heaven...

for me it was really choppy too
i have a amd 1.1, 512mb, radeon9700
yes the proccesor is slow, but i removed my mcafee virusscan, because it was taking lots of cpu space.
Now gameplay is smooth, but still slight sound lag at times. But i live with it, because the game is playable.
moral of the story: you should check what programs in the background take lots of cpu load and remove then while playing pes.

ok,now this is really weird and annoying!i run PES4,everything's fine and smooth (60fps) on the first match played,but if i want to play another match the game becomes choppy and i get a framerate of 43-50 fps.The only way to play another match is to exit to windows,wait for a while,listen to music,surf the web or sth and then run PES4 again(of course for playing ONE more match,if i want to play a third match i have to exit and then run the game again etc).I hadn't noticed all this time cuz of the lack of time for play but now it's really frustrating!ffs what could be wrong?
