I want my smoothness back!!

I had a XP1900 Athlon
768 meg Ram
Ti4200 Gfx Card

PES3 (pre patch) was PERFECTLY smooth.
PES3 (post patch) was stuttery (only slightly but enough to be annoying)

So i ran it without the patch

Then I upgraded... bought a:

P4 2.8 ghz hyperthreading
1 Gig Dual Channel Memory
Keeping my Geforce Ti4200 gfx card

PES3 (pre patch) was PERFECTLY smooth.
PES3 (post patch) was stuttery (only slightly but enough to be annoying)

PES4 was VERY stuttery

I thought it was my Ti200's fault, so, because I love this game so much, I just bought a Geforce 6800 Gfx card... guess what? It's still not smooth! It is much better than with the old card but isn't perfectly smooth like PES3.

I want my smoothness back! I am beginging to wonder if that is even possible. I've tried all suggestions posted on this forum, and tried loads of different drivers.

There are a lot of you out there saying "mine runs perfectly" but now I am betting that you THINK it is running perfectly because you haven't experienced how it should be. (I hope somebody proves me wrong here)

Ok... the very first thing that happens at the start of a match, the camera zooms out from the centre circle yes? Instantly at that point I detect the jerkiness. It kind of zooms out in two parts, not in one fluid movement like in my old PES3. This jumpiness continues throughout the game. (Repays and cut scenes do not suffer half so much).

Look real carefully... do any of you have PERFECT smoothness when the camera initially zooms out from the centre circle? (and ofcourse during the game)

Thanks

PS. Also - on the in game menus, the text that scrolls past are not smooth - I think they should be. Anybody got silky smooth scrolling text?

Well, I have a 2.6 Celeron, 512ddr, Diamond ATI 9200se, running catalyst 4.11. I added Radlink, tweaked the vid (from suggestions posted throughout this site) and I have a very smooth, 1024 * 768 medium resolution going.

No stutters, smooth menus and gameplay, and great graphics (IMO).

Sorry to hear you are having so much trouble.

I feel your pain, askewd. I'm debating upgrading my Ti4400 card, but now I don't know .... so frustrating because PES3 played so well (pre patch)

Well, Ive got my smoothness back. Although I had to sacrifice my eyesight to do it ;)

Basically, now the "60hz" fix that I keep reading about actually works! Before (with the Ti4200 card) changing it to 60hz made no difference. Now it really does fix it. Cool. (ish) So everytime I want to play PES4 Ill have to drop it down to 60hz. Enabling the Vsync fixes any tearing. So yes it's perfect! But I still SHOULDNT have to put up with changing to 60hz. But at least I can play it now.

Noticed it instantly on the menu "scrolling text" screens. They now scroll clearly, solidly and smoothly.

So yes, getting a new GFX card did help.

Damn! Lucky you!
I have radeon 9600TX etc, etc...
jerkiness is still there at 60HZ at start of the match and sometimes it just happens in the game, randomly.

I mean..radeon 9600 XT should be more than enough to run this game perfectly, Konami...

Also.. i have annoying sound bug which forced me to play the game without sound because i can't stand hearing the 3 seconds delay after kicking the ball...

Just to add: when using the original Nvidia drivers (latest official ones) it wouldnt let me stay in 60hz mode unless I played the game in Windowed mode.

yet with the OMEGA drivers, it worked better, and would also keep any refresh rate I set before launching PES. Ie, if I selected 60hz everything would stay at 60 till i decided otherwise, including full-screen PES.

So try the Omega drivers.

(I am sure that there are settings in the Nvidia drivers to achieve the same thing, such as 'override refresh rates' but it didn't work for me)

cheers

If your monitor can handle it, 120htz works too.

Also, TFTs don't have the same problem, they work at 60 by default but in a different way which doesn't bugger your eyes up.

If you're sensible with the amount of time spend in 60hz you will be fine... I only play for about half an hour a day but if you're on it game after game after game with no breaks then yeah it is not too healthy...

Even though I sold my Ti4200 card and got a 6800 (which works perfectly) I have also now solved the jerkiness on the old Ti4200 card (which I gave to my brother)

I tried an older driver. Omega drivers 45.23. (They are still directX9 but simply suit this card as the card itself is older.)

So, for anybody who still has a stuttering PES4, try:

Omega Drivers 45.23
60HZ or 120HZ refresh rate on monitor.

Medium settings with V-Sync ON
**OR**
High settings with V-Sync OFF (but slight tearing)

SORTED!

driver 45.23 kill my other game
Are you sure? Have you tried it?

The reason I asked is because I too thought the older driver would make my newer games - like HL2 and Counterstrike Source play slower, but infact these 'old' drivers made no differnce to them at all. These drivers (remember OMEGA, not the standard Nvidia ones) just seem to work really well, for me at least, with all games.

Try setting the game up on default, Windowed. Then, once it starts, expand to full screen.

Works for me!!!
