I need your help with my homework. I have to write out a few stereotypes about the Polish people. How Poles are seen in your countires?

Hi, Anthony - while I can't assist you with your homework as in Jamaica we don't really see Polish people as being different from German people, for example - (one love, you know?) but this thread is a set-up for a whole slew of "Polish Jokes" of the ilk of "How many Poles does it take to screw in a lightbulb?"

Good luck!

In England we stereotype Polish people as being flamboyantly homosexual, alcoholic, submissive, anti-Darwinist and very good with animals. In my experience this is almost always true.

A German, an Italian and a Pole were stranded in a desserted Island.

They found a magic bottle and a Gennie came out, he said "I shall now grant you three wishes only..."

The German said "I wanna go back to my wife and kids", Poof !!!! The next second he was in his house with his family.

The Italian said "I wanna be on a holiday in a 5 star hotel in Hawai", POOF !!!! The next second he is in a 5 star hotel in Hawai.

The Pole then said "It's kinda lonely here without my two friends, can you bring them back here ?"

Old joke, but still do the trick (H)

I work at a popular PC company, so the only thing i don't like about Polish people is that they usually haven't been here for three years and therefore, are inelligeble for finance (or credit), and they always ask for it. But yeah, i think most people in the UK don't really mind you guys anymore, since you tend to fill the gaps in our economy that we can't fill.

I know this sort of jokes but with Russian instead of the Italian guy.

The Dutch predjudice would be that Polish people steal our jobs - asking only to get paid a handful of change - and do them badly.

Only thing I'd say is a lot of the Polish people who work here are anti-social towards the natives. I have a good few Polish friends that are ******* cool, but there is more than a fair share of people who don't make an effort to fit in with the communities.

That's nothing, the area that I live has had such a huge influx in Polish immigrants over the last four years that I'm fearing that I'm becoming a second-class citizen in my own country. There seems to be a lot of anti-Polish sentiment going on in the area at the minute amongst the natives, and there's fear that there could well be another full scale riot on par with the one that occured a few years ago when some foreigners starting giving natives a hard time and had the compliment repaid in spades.

The problem with the majority of the Poles here is that they refuse to integrate into our society - not just the language barrier, but lack of respect of the law, some of them have even come here demanding benefit which has really riled the locals who think it's an absolute cheek that they come over here and try and demand stuff that we've paid taxes for. The situation has got worse in the last two years or so with the opening of Polish food shops in and around the town, usually on the back streets - nothing wrong with that you may ask, but the placing of large signs saying "No Welsh No British people allowed" on the shop front is what has provoked much fury. This lack of integration and respect has resulted in said shops being vandalised regularly, in one instance someone wrote in Welsh over the boarded-up windows with "PIERDOL SIĘ BACK TO POLSKA" underneath, and even the police have given the proprietors warning that if such signs were put up again they would have their stores closed down.

They shouldn't all be tarred with the same brush, I know of two Poles who came over here for a better standard of living and a better-paid job, but unlike many others, they haven't come here to support families back home and export money from our economy. Oh no, they've actually gone and integrated into society and blended in with the natives, they speak the language, they've made friends with some of the locals and respect the way of life. Fair do's to them, just a shame that 98% of the others over here don't follow their example.

Amazing to think that back in the 1940's, a lot of Poles escaped to north Wales, but unlike most of them now, they integrated into our society, hence there's quite a proportion of Welsh people of Polish lineage around!

Rather attractive but quite fond of booze.

There are many people of Polish lineage here though, as with most ethnic groups.

Anyway another bone to pick with the Poles... I thought my native language had loads of W's in it, but in your language there's bloody thousands of them, and it isn't even a vowel!!

Pollacks are f*ckin' awesome, I don't know what you're all complaining about. Unlike most Europeans, they don't hate America, tend to have some respect for Christianity and support the Chicago Fire. Some of them even play for the Chicago Fire. F*ck you all, Pollacks* are awesome.

I know in America Poles are sometimes stereotyped as being stupid, but then again so are Swedes and, well, Americans.

*I realize "Pollack" is a derogatory term, but I can't say "I like poles," because some smartass like Dragan or Rony is going to pounce on that opportunity.

Yeah, the other day even the Daily Star had a hot Polish chick on Page 3. And she had a big chest that would make Mika drool.

The stereotypes I know are that Poles are stupid and fantastic drinkers.

In my experience I don't really know them to be stupid, but they are definitely great drinkers.

Heh, I do notice a lot of Poland flags when I watch the Fire play.
