I have never seen so much backlash before in a Fifa game

Wow, the amount of backlash and hate threads this year is simply amazing. Fifa 2004 has got to be the Fifa that has the worst start ever. EAsports and Danny Issac has certainly shot themselves in the foot for overhyping the game and giving empty promises, releasing an unfinished buggy product.
The fans has had enough..this is sooo ..wow..I hope EASports will really sit back and think about their strategies after reading these threads, especially with a new heavy weight competitor, PES3 for the PC.

The only way to save the Fifa series is to NOT buy the game this year and the Euro 2004 ripoff next year too. This will kick EAsports in their asses and hopefully they will change the production team and make sure Fifa 2005 has the quality.

Fact of the matter is that I have never seen such a storm of disgust directed to ANY gaming company before.
I would really, I mean REALLY, wish to see how the EA headquarters in general and the EA soccer team in particular feels about this. And it will be extremely interesting to see how they respond to all the criticism.

If they choose to do it like they always do (even if this situation is sort of unique due to the intensity of the criticism) and hide their head in the sand, in other words release no patches, or not even make any kind of statement I guess...oh, well...even the most die hard fans will turn their backs on EA.

But I wonder if the top guys at EA even recieves all the criticism from the fans. I guess the moderators at both this forum and the official EA ones live under the impression, like the rest of us do, that we actually live in a world where the messenger does get shot...

It is kind of sad because I absolutely love some of the other EA titles and I struggle to come with terms with why they have such difficulty i making a great soccer title. I know EA as a company is capable of greatness but it seems they need to change the team in charge of FIFA. Danny Isaac is, as always, full of crap. If the guy says it's raining you need to stick your head outside and check for yourself. I loved FIFA World Cup 2002 (other than the flaming balls and bullet headers from 50 yards out but both of those things could get turned off) and I really thought that if they built on that title with it's gameplay, FIFA 2003 was going to kick ass big time.

Come on EA, redeem yourseleves. I'll never stop buying your other titles but you need to fire the team in charge of FIFA, they're giving the company a bad rep.

I am part of this 'backlash' and I'm fed up with EA's empty promises and head in the sand tactics. This year they have a crediable rival on the PC...and I for one won't be holding my breathe for a response from EA on this backlash....

I've seen nothing to suggest EA is capable of producing a quality football game. The only reason they are still even making the game is that they are plowing all their money into licences and advertising, and making it all back (and then some) when we all stupidly fall for it. Going by the backlash this year though, it's looking unlikely this is going to work for much longer, and drastic changes will need to made. But really, how can they expect to go from the sorry excuse for a game it is now, to something that can seriously compete with PES? And within a year! Simply impossible if you ask me.

Yep. Danny sure knows how "to winedine69...and then go play golf for a while".
But, if the criticism is any kind of indication of how the sales will go this year I guess we won´t have to put up with his song and dance routine anymore. The EA headquarters are well aware of what a cash cow soccer is...and they won´t tolerate it if Fifa losses the sales battle to any competitor.

And, I totally agree with your points about WC 2002.

That's the spirit lads! :)

EA have always been capable of making a quality football game - they did it six years ago with FIFA 98, but since then us gamers got so fed up of the rubbish that they released year after year that it's no wonder we've all jumped ship to PES.

The only way we can make EA sit up and take notice, and that's a big "if", is by voting with our feet, leave FIFA 2004 on the shelf and get something else...

I'm so tired of the complaining and bitching. This forum isn't even fun anymore. All I see is constant bitching in every thread. It's pathetic and it's gotten out of hand. I'm starting to think you FIFA bashers have no lives, at all. All you do is complain and bitch. Go play with your PES and just give it a rest.

Every day, it's something different . . . day in, day out. EA this, EA that, blah blah blah blah blah. This forum has gone to hell in a hand-basket, and you FIFA bashers are the blame. I hope you're happy. I should start using this ignore feature.

gotta be this way

It's gotta be this way tho man... cause then maybe... just maybe ea will listen. Nothing changes if nothing is put into motion.

That's the point dude, most of us have been FIFA fans for years and years and are disappointed because we use to love the game so much. If nobody complains (and I agree that the "it sucks" comments are pointless) then FIFA will assume everybody is happy with the game - which is far from the truth. forums like this are the only voice fans have for stating what they don't like in the game or what should never have been removed or changed.

Mmmm If there is too much Bitching coming from all over ....

well... its true that there are a lot of PES fanboys that love to destroy EA and FIFA..... but this time is worst.

And this only could be for one reason.. that something is not going well with the series...and sincerely i think something must be done.

Has to be this way.....

Let's face facts, PES has stolen the game away. If you want to play fun and competive football, then you don't play FIFA. If you want to say to yourself and your friends "Look, I'm playing a football game and my team is really called Real Madrid and look how realistic David Beckham's hair looks!", well then you play FIFA.

There's no doubt EA has the money and the ability to make a great football game, but facts are they are lazy and complacent, and the fact that a LOT of people blindly purchase their game(s) each year like zombies does nothing to persuade them to do anything different.

So those of you that continually defend EA, go ahead. If you enjoy the game, then good for you. But there are more and more each year that are learning something different, and with the release of PES on PC this time around, many more are going to have thier eyes opened wide on what a real football game can be.

It's really sad what is happening here...Indeed they didn't respect all their promises, but, what the h**,who did?The best Fifa game ever 4 me is FIFA98.Brilliant and with a sensational atmosphere.Fifa 2003 was a good game too.E very good one.But it had some bugs. The gameplay was very good,a bit unrealistic, but it was close to the simulation we nedeed.Maybe some of you are too weak to play this game. It's too tough 4 you?You can't keep up with the changes?Too bad 4 U!How many of you played soccer at the highest level?I think none.Or almost...So you don't know the feeling. In this case, how can you ever speak about a thing you only saw on TV?You can't imagine how everything works. It's true that some of the things are really annoying (like the ball physics or the nets unrealistic),but it happens. And NO,EA doesn't pay me to say all this things! I've been playing FIFA since 96.All of them. And all other soccer games 4 PC.Fifa it's the best!Maybe this year, the PES3 will take the lead. But this will only be good 4 us!Next year,Fifa will be better. And even if you'll not buy the game, others will...It's a great game!If you are so good at it,make a better soccer game!Until then,I think the best you to help for the progress of this game is to make a constructive criticism, not a distructive one.
I know that with this reply,I will be the target of many disagreements, but I don't care.I like the game because I have a great feeling when I'm playing it.If you don't like the game anymore, stop playing it!Nobody forces you to do it!But I have one request.Leave the others who love this game to enjoy it!
Thank you very much!

For years, people have made all kinds of critisms of FIFA. And where has that gotten us? They remove features, dumb down gameplay, and basically take us all to be a buncha lemmings who will blindy buy thier product.

It doesn't matter whether I've played soccer at ANY level. I watch it and know what I want in the video game that I spend $50 to play. And somehow, for many many years, FIFA doesn't give that to me.

But dammit, Beckham's hair looks good in the game.....

A few more things.I will apologyze for the spelling. It's almost 5 AM in my country...
I played the demo of PES3.It's a very good game.At some points,it's better than FIFA.But...it's a different game.Really! And that's great! But I like Fifa too.A lot!And this is different! So both games are good. The best in their ways...I'm not defending Fifa or PES3,but this is the thruth...I think that both games are "MUST HAVE"!...This is all...

It was not only about you.And you're right at some points. But I think that, with the exception of 2000 and 2001 editions,it was a continuous evolution...
I heard many times:"Do you want to play FIFA?...Yes...2002WC,right?..."This mean that lot of people like easy games.I've finished the game at World Class level(FIFA2003).And I had a great satisfaction doing that.'Cause it was not easy at all.
It was not the best game they could released, but it was fine enough...
My only hope is that with PES3,EA SPORTS will make future games better in a pregnant way then since 2000 till now...
