I also think not telling lior to go **** off till he is a mod is a start... I learned that the very hard way.:D :p

Well first off, there really arent basic requirements, nothing with the post count, you should be liked by the majority of people, nothing about the sigs or any of that crap. You just have to help out in certain forums, but this doesnt mean going around and being an asshole to people who break the rules sometimes.

Second to my knowledge mod elections are NOT done year by year, the last mod elections were done for a reason, or so i have heard. Anyway if there are mod elections its so mods can be picked in a fair way and the people that Matt Holme and Lior and the other supermods see fit for the job, its not as easy as just getting voted. Also whats really important you cant hold grudges you have to enforce the rules on everyone.

Anyway all of the other SG staff will tell you its not as fun as it looks because you really have to mod.Like Parra said you are bound to the SG forums as long as you are online.

btw i dont think the forums are going down at all..all of the people with huge sigs are new members, you dont see Ewan or Gavin or Mishkin going aroung with a 500x200 sigs do you? There are always people who will fight, most of the people who left, are gone because they feel they should be treated better then everyone else because they have been here longer than most. We are only human you know....:)

More locking of useless threads, more merging of threads (there are currently three threads in the main forum on Ronaldinho's transfer to Barca), and more enforcement of useless posts (stuff like one line full of smiley faces etc..) needs to happen.

[/rant off]

Peace. :)
I disagree with you about the standard of moding here...

I was previously a supermod here, and I know that one thing that I was always trying to get the other mods to do, was let as much go as possible...

Forums are about speaking your mind, and saying what you believe...Unless its offensive, or hinders the way the forums work in some way, than it should be let go as much as possible...

Pointless posting is cut down as much as we can thru the post boosting rules, and we close any thread that is heading way off topic.

If you do too much, than it takes away the whole point of having forums in the first place.

These forums seem to be heading downwards. Amazing amount of rule-breakers, like people with 2 sigs, 3 sigs, 1 friggin large sig and. Not forgetting the large amounts of disputes around. Many people seem to have left because of such, and mods really have to work harder.

thats really convenient and 'fashionable' to say isn't it ?

you haven't even been here long enough to compare the current state of affairs with the past.

ever so often there somes a time where a member whos been here for a couple of months makes statements like "Things have been going downhill" or "those were the days" to make themselves sound like veterans or one of the "old boys."

in reality nothings changed. The forums are just the way they have always been...and what are the "large amounts of disputes" you mention ? I beg to differ. If anything the disputes have gone down .... we hardly have flared up arguments anymore and the place is much more friendly than ever before. We have a great set of members who are all co-operative informative and helpful.

I don't see ANY substance in your statements AT ALL. The Fifa forums always have some heated exchanges - nothing out of the ordinary.

As for elections - Why fix it when it ain't broke ? If help is needed, the mods will decide who a suitable replacement would be and appoint him/her wherever necessary.

I'm not that familiar with this forum software, but is there a way for moderators to moderate each post? For instance, it would be useful for mods to be able to instantly just give a post a score. This lets members like myself avoid the absolute and utter crap on these forums (at least 50% of posts) through the use of aggressive filters.

Yep, agree...The only difference Ive noticed around here, is that the "old boys" arent quite as active as they once were...Most are still around, but arent posting at the same rate as they once were (altho there are of course still exceptions)...Oh actually another difference is that the "old boys" and the mods dont have those big all in MSN conversations about absolutly nothing anymore :p Maybe thats a good thing, maybe its a bad thing...but its not effecting the end user :)

Lui a veteren? No way, he was always just a wannabe :alex:

Actually Im pretty sure most of the mods are glad that Lui left tho, things are better here without him.

Weird that youd throw in Lui with those guys tho...You must have heard some good stories from yash, because I try not to mention the terrible "Lui" days :)

hmmm...

Lui never sparked a change in his life...And was mod for a good week before the mod elections were held, and basically the whole moderator system was reformed...

I suppose you could say that he sparked change...Those mod elections probably wouldnt have been held if it werent for him becoming a mod in the first place :)
