Well that must have been shitty as hell, unless the women in your team were hot and there was only one lockeroom.

A few were BUT there was this 40yr old short asian woman on my team who was convinced by her caucasian (hedonistic looking, emasculated) husband to join the league and play alongside him as well as with their 18yr old son. It was like playing with a man down at all times, so the team captain would play her in a forward position. It was worse than being a man down because sometimes she would get the ball and instead of one of us running to that position for the ball she would always lose it... That pissed me off. There was another young girl on the team who had the same skill level. At least the old lady would sometimes kick the ball (mostly random) so there was a chance one of us might get it but the young girl would always hold on to the ball and get it taken off her. I think league rules were that there were 2 or 3 girls that were required to be on field. I played against this super good girl though that got 2 goals against us, she was playing at a higher level outside that league and probably wanted competition against dudes.

The cool thing about the league is that the uniforms were real team knockoffs. Amazingly my team got inter kits. But the league was a christian league so we had to listen to a 5 minute bible passage reading during each halftime. (H)

ps. I want to add that I have horrible natural talent for soccer. My first touch is bad, I'm passive to go for the ball (especially heading), I'm terrible at positioning and running into space to the right place. I'm also not quick.

Yeah attributes wise, my finishing is kind of poor. I have a decent first touch and control (I have played and still play futsal all my life), and my vision and passing are quite good. My speed wasn't what it used to be but it's enough to keep up with most people.

Fitness was my biggest problem. I totally blame myself because I never tried to improve, but I was pretty slow. That's why I'd say I'm a Huddlestone type. Really sucked because in the US the extent of the tactics are "this is your position, now run around a lot," so I had to constantly prove myself. Senior year I got the "are you really sure you want to play soccer this year?" speech and halfway through the year I established myself in the starting XI. Stupid assholes. My junior year I was on JV and backing up a freshman at CM (we played with only one CM, so it was a pretty fucking important position) who was BY FAR AND OBVIOUSLY not as good as me, which was incredibly frustrating and I honestly have no idea why I didn't quit the team. But "you don't bring up freshmen to sit on the bench."

E: Did anyone else take penalties? I know I had to take a couple in some shootouts. Never missed one (H)

now that I look back on it, I'm convinced my accuracy with set-pieces (pens, FKs, CKs) was what got me onto the school/college teams I've played on ... coz other than that, I was just a right-footed left winger trying too many tricks, with a 25% success rate ...

solid sunday leaguer (in and outdoor) now ... EDIT: and I still can't head the ball for sh!t, despite being over 6 ft tall ... it's kind of embarassing, really ...

I don't think my trick would have worked at higher levels. As I walked up I would take some "sneaky" glances at the left corner of the goal. Probably 5 in total. And I would eyeball the shit out of that left corner as I started my run up. Keeper ALWAYS dove left as the ball was slowly passed to the right.

I've played with a couple of A-League players, they were better than me at most aspects though so meh

My main issue throughout my career has been I have no pace. Absolutely none, I can beat players for the first few metres but never anything more, at the moment in my current team I play a sort of one touch link up role in the middle of a 3-5-2 being infront of 2 defensive midfielders

Also have always taken penalties, it the post a few times but other than that pretty good, I used to take freekicks at junior levels but haven't really taken any bar the further out crossing freekicks in about 4 years

My only skill in soccer is defending and my speed .Since my teammates in the backlline (My coach usually plays me as a left or right back) are a bunch of stupid defenders i had to do all the defending . I remember one time when we had a corner and all my teammates where in the opposing penalty box as in 9 of them in there , I was left with the keeper in our side so the corner went well and then suddenly our opposition made a fast counter leaving me against 2 strikers and 3 mids . Luckily I managed to close into one of them just in time to stop his through ball and got the ball out . Afterwards I screamed at my teammates for they"re stupid thinking and guess what they even got mad at me ahh worthless assholes . Well they still continued they"re stupidity since all they care about is scoring goals . But i managed to convinced some of them about 3 we managed to keep the sheets clean and won the game 2-0 . I got the best defender award in that tournament where we got eliminated in the groupstages .

Oh the penalties I already took a few and managed to only miss 1 because I used my left weaker foot because my coach told me too :(

I was embarrased so much . I did the CR7 pose inhale and exhale ready to kick . Ahh and then epic fail I could even hear our opponents crowd laughing at me worst PK ever (It was so weak the keeper didnt even had to save it cause it didnt even reach him )

Once i missed from 13 yards. I tried to jab an oncoming rebound ball and it flew over the post. It looked like a howler
it was pretty embarissing..

Damn, you gotta work on your left foot, bro. No wonder the coach wanted you to use it.

My left foot is also a disaster. Lucky me, the right one compensates. (H)

Why is there this stereotype that tall players don't posses a good technique?
I know there are few examples in football (Zlatan, Yaya), but I think technique and touch don't have anything in common with height. Your balance is the one affected.

Played at a club until I was about 15. Reason I quite is because I moved to Amsterdam and I couldn't settle at a new club. Coaches were yelling there and teammates were competitive baboon assholes. Started playing other (non-team) sports after that. Sort of regret not looking for a new club, I'm completely out of it now for so long (competitively, I do play pick-up games every now and then).

Anyway, when I played I started out as a defender. I was quite good and once made an opposing striker cry because I kept tackling him off the ball. He kept falling down, complete pussy. I felt so sorry for him I asked the ref to just give him a penalty to get a shot at scoring. My teammates did not appreciate that (and the ref didn't give the penalty). Anyway, I scored a lot of long distance goals and they moved me to striker. My dribbling and first touch were poor, but I had a great shot. Because I had a bad first impression on opponents because of my poor dribbling skills, they usually didn't cover me and I was able to get a free shot a lot of the times. I probably scored that way in every game. Good times.

I do remember my teammates disliking my striker antics. Usually I was just waiting for them to pass the ball to me so I could bang it in and they generally thought I was lazy.

Sounds much like me except for the striker part (H)

One of my theories is that at younger ages they never had to use superior technique to dominate other players and thus didn't develop it as they grew as a player

I thought that once a young player shows physical qualities his coach puts him in a position that doesn't require much skill, let's say CB.
