Hoping PES09 will be able to compete with FIFA 09

I have tried the gameplay of FIFA09 thru its demo and surprised that it's improved so much and I can say that this is the best one among the FIFA series until now.

As a fan of PES, I hope PES'09 will be able to compete with the FIFA version of this year. If PES is still going with what it had done as the last year, many fans will leave n' move to FIFA, maybe, and I'm actually worried about this.

Thru what EA did, I can see that EA can do everything, as a giant in game industry to compete with any competitor. Do you all think that last year the score is 1-0 for FIFA as FIFA 08 had defeated PES2008. Hoping this year even score will happen. Konami, I believe you are not an easy surrender !

You must have been playing the 360 or PS3 demo. The FIFA09 PC demo is rubbish. No competition on the PC this year. PES wins easily.

Depends which version we are comparing. Even with last years poor pes it still beat the pc version of fifa. On PC pes is still king. On console its a different story. But seeing as I am a pc gamer I care which pc version is better.

pes fan fifa looks good!

i am a pes fan

i moved to pes 4 yrs ago (better game play)
i played all fifa up till then
however this fifa feels different this year more flow i'm not bothered so much by graphics though i have to say with a quad core and 8800 cranked it looks special!!1

i've played over a 100 10 min games on this demo and am still scoring different goals
unlike previous fifas (always the same)
by the way i thought fifa 2008 was very bad and looked ugly!

god konami have their work cut out !
the "trick stick "in fifa
actually works with practice!1
especially when you watch the replay with sweet graphics in slo mo ....wow!

fifa games have always had strange contrived game play compared to the flow of pes but this one guys believe me does feel different..also the animation is much improved( i hated the fifa that looked as if the ball was attatched to player with a rubber band!)

by the way i've read that only consoles have NG graph but i've compared my pc cranked and it looks about the same...... if your pc is good enough!

Glad you are enjoying it. Strange. Perhaps their art style is more your cup of tea.

I was running the PC version cranked (1600x1200 max settings with high AF/AA) and it looks nothing like the 360 version (which looks and plays impressively in videos). The PC ball physics are terrible too and the ball is huge. Corners and free kicks felt all wrong as well. The PC lighting was also very old tech, not high def - something I really notice in games since Assassin's Creed. The FIFA360 lighting is just as impressive.

Then look at Ballack's and Joe Cole's eyes. They look like zombies in the FIFA2009 PC demo. They wouldn't be out of place chasing Milla Jovovich on the big screen.

There is nothing in the FIFA09 demo that looked, sounded or played better than the patched and modded PES2008 in my opinion. And that was with PES2008. PES2009 PC might be the best PES in years, if one believes the rave reviews of new weather effects, ball physics, new game modes etc...

I think the PC Fifa09 demo is quite good. Looks very, very good and plays better than Fifa08. I will get both games as I always have done and switch between them when I get bored or frustrated with the other. We need good football games from both Kanomi and EA and need to realize they both have good points and faults.

out of curiousity, what will Fifa do since PES has taken the CL rights? Perhaps what PES use to do with the WEFA Cup? Personally I believe having the CL rights intales good news for Champions League in general... One things is for sure, when you win the CL Cup odds are that you'll celebrate with the title and visually see it unlike in Fifa when you just take a crummy team pic that displays no trophy what so ever... Also, I am sure presentation as it has already been seen on the trailer will be MUCH better than it was on Fifa...

As an updating for this thread:

British newspaper The Independent has named a list of the 50 best video games of all time (including pes2009, even though it's still not yet out under a demo).

So I'm still wondering if 'The Independent' is too hurry or not. Anyone here has fully tried the demo of Fifa09 and make a comparison of its gameplay with pes5's (based on which pes2009's gameplay is followed). In my own opinion Fifa09's is better pes5's one. Do you think so?

Roughly:
Fifa09's gameplay > pes5's one

If pes2009's=pes5's one

We get:

PES2009's gameplay < Fifa09's one

Is it right? :nape:

Anyway, I'm still thinking PES2009 will just only get the best of pes5's one only. It will add more improvements for this year, and what 'The independent' said will come true.
