Kein Geringer als Arsenals Top-Stürmer Thierry Henry wird die Verpackung des kommenden Fußballspiels Pro Evolution Soccer 4 zieren. Außerdem wird der französische Nationalspieler an Werbe-Aktionen teilnehmen, die den Titel in den kommenden Wochen begleiten. Sein Statement zur Vereinbarung und der Qualität des Spiels:

"The Pro Evolution Soccer series is by far the closest to real football. I am very excited to be involved with a game of this calibre and look forward to working closely with Konami of Europe in the coming months."

Erscheinen wird der Kick im Oktober für PS2, PC und erstmals auch für Xbox.

Came across the following bit of info on this subject.

Konami of Europe has announced that Thierry Henry, the world top striker, is to be one of the faces of Pro Evolution Soccer 4, the latest installment in Konami Computer Entertainment Tokyo's highly regarded football simulation for PlayStation 2, PC-DVD and the Xbox video game system from Microsoft.

The current European and Premiership Golden Boot holder, Thierry Henry is the most prolific and respected striker in the modern game, and a self-confessed fan of the Pro Evolution Soccer series. The 27-year-old striker joined Arsenal from Juventus in 1999 and rapidly established himself as a Premiership force, scoring 154 goals in five seasons with the North London club. He is also a mainstay of the French national side, with 27 goals to his 63 appearances.

As part of the deal, Henry will appear on Pro Evolution Soccer 4's packaging and promotional materials. He will also be available for promotional purposes in the run-up to the game's launch in October.

Nice to see FIFA have a bit of competition now in the personality stakes! Hopefully this will get younger gamers who probably only buy FIFA because of it's pretty packaging with their favourite players on the front.

FIFA for the most part have been using this strategy to capture young fans. And they have been very successful at if you compare FIFA sales to PES. There is a reason why companies paid stars or celebrities to endorse their products. Where would Adidas or Nike be without the endorsements of Beckham, Henry, Ronaldo, and other stars players?

I rather that it be a famous player on the cover than a freak looking ref or some generic ball. This is a positive starts for the Konami marketing machine
Now, all we need is a EPL, Ligue 1, and Bundesliga license, and we are set.

Someone wrote that WE7 is more realistic.... So what? If you want realistic, go join a league and actually play the game.
Someone also mentioned how the fouls were not called conistently. Frankly, this is great! If you didn't notice it, the ref waives for play to continue most times the foul isn't called. and when in a real game do ALL of the fouls get called? That was something I hated in 2003, having to stop everytime a foul happened. This makes it more realistic.

Good idea by Konami. I suppose there were lots of tiny little fifa fans who were just too scared of funny looking dude (Clollina) on Pes3 cover to buy this game.
I think it would be even smarter to place a hot naked mama with big tits on the cover. Konami wouldn't miscalculate with that one.
