Havelange : "England 66 and Germany 74" were fixed

There are some theories around here regarding that, but that's just our dumbarse journalists being too proud to concede defeat.

To be honest south americans and scots aren't the best people to ask on whether england won the world cup fair and square. And the FIFA president, why is he coming out now? A book coming or something?

Besides even if it was i wouldn't be surprised, not because of the evidence but because of the amount of cheating going on at that time in almost every sport. At the end of the day its all about money.

True or not quite useless to say that now. Also somewhere i heard that that he remarked the good performance of Argentina in 1978(whatever that's supposed to mean). Still don't see any reason to say that '66 and '74 were fixed, or why didn't he say that before?

Regarding Diego's picture, fixing matches/tournaments has nothing to do with stupid/blind referees.

Just say your mate said it was Matt - that's enough evidence.

My mum told me Euro 2004 was fixed, and i believe her. In fact, i might write a book about it, i wonder what i could call it...

Certainly blame the blind refs a lot more than Maradona for that incident, plus it was before my time so I'm not too bitter about it. But it doesnt mean Maradona isn't a dirty cheat.

In that case, lets just say now that WC 2006 was fixed because Italy got that penalty against Australia. And Portugal 04 was a fix as well, especially against England in the shootout. And 02 because even with Guus Hiddink in charge, Korea MUST HAVE had some other help. And 98 because it was in France.

Seriously, of all the bull**** to come out with. Senile old ****s have no idea what 66 means to us. Even if it was a fix, and the evidence is suspect to say the least, why come out with it now and send shockwaves through the entire sporting culture of one country. It might be laughable to the ones that have won it five times, or to those who never will, but 66 is important. You come out with this and English fans lose faith in football. I know nobody likes us as it is, but rightly or wrongly something of this magnitude shouldn't be said without due consideration of the impact it would have.

Oh, and Jews did 9/11. And Diana was assassinated. And we've never been to the moon.

To be honest, that might actually turn out to be true. I heard the three brothers actually watched soccer for quite a while.

So that means that we should be awarded the 66 cup instead of the 74 one? Doesn't affect us folks. Just the Dutch and the Brits (H)

Havelange is an idiot imo.
He barely talks about 78.
And even said Brazil was robbed vs. Holland in 74 (uh....a game where Holland totally owned them)

78 isnt a joke of a "world cup". It was more Peru vs. Argnetina thate g pretty much made Argentina's cup win a joke (though they did beat Holland fair and square)

England 66 is just a lost cause. Unlike 74 (where there is barely any hard obvious evidence of cheating), 66 is riddled with it throughout the tournament.

Thing is the 78 "PEru" match is prob the only game where a team took a dive. But 66? Way too many things to mention.

(hilarious biased pro England refs, the final where England kicked Germany off the pitch and got no calls, the "Goal" (crossbar) out, the Pele inconvenience "delt with", the famous quarter final "secret draw for a ref", and then the 2 quarter final matches (Arg/Eng....Uru/Ger), where unheard of stuff happened.

(((I could go on about the 1/2 final matches (both above mentioned), people would be jaw dropped)))
<Ironically , it's this that does it for most people>

2002 had 2 matches where this happened (its hard to hide it when it becomes so obvious and expected). Korea's miraculous run to the semis? ehem . lol (especially vs. Spain)

I mean, Italy could have beaten Korea dispite the rediculous calls.
But Spain was just outright screwed.

I have always been well chuffed about us winning the thing in '66, but now I see that it has upset even more people than I previously thought, I am happier and more content than ever before.

I think if you look hard enough, you will find "evidence" that every single World Cup and Euro Championship has been fixed somewhere along the line. It just depends if you are a sad enough person to want to see it.

You can believe all the conspiricy theories that you like. The record books say that in 1966 ENGLAND won the World Cup. Nothing will change that. It is written in stone. Thank you and good night.(Y)

Totally agree with you Pete. Did Peru take a dive against Argentina?? Maybe, am i ashamed of it hell yeah. however way i look at it is either we took a dive, or Argentina took a shat and humilliated us which is worse the first or the latter i dont care, truth to matter is Argentina won the World Cup in 78 as England in 66. None of this suprises, Fifa isnt as transparent as they would like us to think.

Well cheating to lose does seem dumb man, but cheating to win does seem to be rather acceptable, and even boasted about ( Argentina?), in many parts of the World, so why should I care how we won it if others don't care. If you can't beat them, join them I say> :)

All I know is that I was just a kid in 1966, and the memories of the entire competition will live with me forever. Just look at the participating teams and the players who played. Thanks to my dad, I saw every game live and in person, apart from those ones too far North, and watched all those legends in real time, so nothing but NOTHING, can take the shine off it for me. The Maradona handball is a good point. And any moron who bothers to move through to be a president of UEFA or FIFA loses respect.
