Has Anyone Successfully Added A New Intl. Tournament That Works In Career Mode?

mrliioadin

The title is the question. Has anyone actually successfully added a new international tournament to career mode and made it work? If so, can you detail exactly how you did it or provide any pointers.

I've spent hours searching for an answer to this and many more hours trying to test various solutions. I have literally had zero success.

Any help is supremely appreciated.

it has been done many times, quit using CM to do it.

study the format in the dlc texts and clone one for starters to get
to know the files.

it really simple once you understand what you are looking at.

The problem is that no one provides detailed information on how to do this. Perhaps this is the right way to go about solving the problem. But, when people ask for help they are met with "study the format in the DLC texts."

Why not archive the knowledge you have already gathered? This is supposed to be a helpful community. The approach described above puts the community in a situation where every single user has to reinvent the wheel every time they want to learn a new skill or technique. No other support communities that I have found on any topic take that approach. People are happy to share knowledge because when everyone has a solid foundation, more people can contribute to higher level research.

What would be helpful would be to describe exactly where CM15 goes wrong in trying to solve this problem. For one, then CM15 could fix it. For another, additional users could use the alternative approach.

If you know how, please share. Hell, I'll pay pal you $10 to do it.

i know how to do it, i was one of the few others that figured it out.

it takes a lot and i don't have the time to show you because one explanation
leads to a question that leads to another and it will go on forever.

just know that the first entry in a row of data pertains to the first entry in the compobj text.

compobj text is the key to all the other texts.

here is an example below for the MLS, using the compobj and settings text.

you have to study those files, if you fail to understand them you will
never make a tournament.

it boggles everybody and after staring at them so long everything made sense.

Thank you so much for the information provided. Yes, one explanation leads to another and so on. But it probably doesn't go on forever. Most people get stuck in a spot and once they are unstuck, they can figure out things on their own. Right now, I'm stuck.

But as for the time it takes to respond to these questions... That's the way these things work. The benefit is if you teach motivated and active people how to do little things... WE can then take over a lot of the question answering.

Right now, you are one of few experts on this and several other topics. I know this because I've spent a few years now just trying to mine what information you do provide for clues as to how these files work. If you don't answer a thread, chances are it doesn't get answered. So whatever information you do trickle down is essentially all the community has to grow from.

If you are willing to sacrifice a little time to teach people like me, we will teach the other people. Personally, I love answering questions and have been active on this community at least intermittently since 2006. I'm not great at anything. My kits are generic looking and often smear the badges. My gameplays are really just modifications of yours. I tried to build a stadium once but failed at basic geometry. I'm really good with databases but can't do much with them because I can't build leagues.

The point is I know how to do some things. I get lost in other places. But, what I do know I try to provide back to the community as much as possible. If you are willing to trickle down a little more of your information to people like me, I can help filter out the noise so that you can focus on figuring new things out. And I can start to answer some of those 20 threads currently open and unresolved on how to make tournaments.

So, yes I do have additional questions. Specifically, I have successfully added club tournaments. That's no problem. But, the game seems to treat national team tournaments differently. Specifically, if I were to set a tournament to

[####],comp_type,CUP

I could get it to work, no problem. But the same tournament with:

[####],comp_type,INTERCUP

would crash. This assumes that the teams (national teams vs. clubs) were adjusted to reflect the competition type. Now, if I had national teams in the comp_type = CUP, it would just skip those games and they would never be played. If I put clubs in that same competition, it would run perfectly.

Are you sure that that is a problem with CM15? If so, what might CM15 be doing wrong? Is there any reason to suspect that CompType and something like match_situation need to agree in some way?

Could this be a problem with something like Prize Money?

I'm still going to look over the files and try to answer these questions myself. Just because I ask in the community doesn't mean I'm done trying. But, if you could save me a lot of time, I promise I can save you lots in the future too!

i haven't studied the 15 files as much as the 13 and 14 files, they are slightly different yet
practically the same.

what type of cup are you trying to make ?

I would love to build National Team tournaments. Specifically, it might be great to build something like the Caribbean Cup. Or, I have all of the OFC nations done, but can't get an OFC Nations cup to work.

I've tried building it from scratch. I tried cloning another league. I tried building just the final match. I tried swearing at my computer (which made my dog think she had done something wrong). I also tried moderate amounts of alcohol. I tell you, none of this worked...

mrliioadin

Senior Squad
When I'm testing these things, I start with just the final stage and build it backward from there round by round. So, I have failed to just play one final match (just like the community shield in England) between New Zealand and say New Caledonia.

I have also tried just one match with Mexico and the United States. I have also tried a single group of four teams just playing round robin.

Eventually, the OFC Nations cup would be

Group stage with 2 groups of 4 each.
Top 2 move on.
standard four team knockout. No third place.

you would need to pay close attention to the advancement text, it has to be perfectly created.

i could put a mock up together for you to compare to yours in the next few days.

There wouldn't be any advancement in a two team tournament with just a final?

Plus, it doesn't explain the discrepancy between using club teams vs. national teams. If I use club teams, everything works beautifully. If I use national teams it stops working.

then you aren't assigning something properly.

send me what you have but only the cup data not vanilla data.

I'm not sure what you mean by vanilla versus cup data but here are the relevant lines from compobj and settings files.

It's a fictional test-tournament with only a final played between Scotland and England

compobj
Code:
286,3,C2,TrophyName_Abbr15_2,70
287,4,S1,FCE_Setup_Stage,286
288,5,G1, ,287
289,4,S2,FCE_Final,286
290,5,G1, ,289

settings
Code:
286,asset_id,2
286,comp_type,INTERCUP
286,schedule_seasonstartmonth,JUL
286,schedule_year_start,2015
286,schedule_year_offset,1
286,match_matchimportance,25
287,match_stagetype,SETUP
289,match_stagetype,KO1LEG
289,match_matchsituation,FINAL
290,num_games,1

This obviously crashes. If I set comptype to CUP instead of INTERCUP, it won't crash any more, but the matches won't be played either.

Thanks for clarification. I think I have them all below.

There is no reference to the league in advancement. I suspect that is because there is no advancement to be had since there is only one leg.

InitTeams

I'm working with England and Scotland, not Australia/Austria. The 286 is the competition ID. Sounds like I may be looking at it wrong in at least one of the files?

the above is austria, so i'm guessing this is where you are storing the tournament
for tournament mode ?

i don't see how the competition id could be 286 when 286 is not a competition.

line 287 is a competition.

287,3,C212,TrophyName_Abbr15_212,286

this happens to be austria's cup.

if you are creating a cup you need to use the number following the last
in the compobj, which is 1681.
