This is a thread where I`m gonna put my reviews of the latest movie released and old movies that I watched, the first movie I`m gonna review is Stealth, starred Josh Lucas, Jessica Biel and Jamie Foxx.
The moment I walked out of the cinema, I kept thinking "Why would a double Oscar calibre actor like Jamie Foxx played in that piece of crap ?". Money, would probably the right answer . . .
Let`s begin with the story first. Stealth is about three pilots who were chosen out of 400 best Navy pilots in a government secret project, I know it sounds like any other typical Hollywood movies, but with Jamie Foxx in it, I at least expected a movie with smart dialogues and great characteristics from the casts. All of them are doin` great in training, so they`re gonna have their first real assignment as a team in a motherships with an extra member added, which turned out to be some kind of a super computer jet with an AI planted. The three chosen pilots ( Lucas, Biel and Foxx ) were more like a gang in a highschool sports team than soldiers. The crappiness of this movie begins as soon as the three of them walkin down that motherships together with slow-motions, makin` that scene looks like a scene from a crappy Power Rangers movie from the early 90`s. And any idiot can tell that Biel will have a relationship with Lucas ( eventough he`s portrayed as a charming playboy along with Foxx ). In that ships the three of them gotta learn about their new partner, and Foxx ( a black guy ) learned about the new Jet using hip-hop music, pukes . . ., typical stereotyping of Hollywood . . .
Like in any other Hollywood movies, there are bad guys. The bad guys in this movie are the terrorist. Three of them and the non-piloted Jet goes around the globe blowin` up buildings, and shootin` up bad guys. The crap thing is, there`s no reason whatsoever why should they shoot the bad guys. The whole thing is just too black and white. The US are the good guys ( real good guys ) and the arabs, asians, latins, etc are mostly bad guys that really needs to be whiped out of the map. Throughout the movie there`s not a single diplomatic problems or even a solutions for those border-breaking attacks. The three US pilot always wins with a smile on their faces and throwin` up crappy funny lines to each other, while Lucas play as the "Mr. Cool" with Biel.
And oh, **** happens, EDI, the smart plane struck by a lightning, changin` his behaviour to be that bad renegade machine ( the first 10 minutes of this movie, you`ll know that`s gonna happen, oh this movie is so predictable in every aspects ). And in conclusion, the three of them will fight EDI together. The ending of this movie is so typical, I don`t even need to say to you what`s gonna happen, you all can guess it 90 % correct.
The movie failed to send any message to the audience, even if it tried to send any moral message, it failed big time. Since when does a soldier refuse to do a direct order because he thinks "oh there`re innocent farmers down there" ?. The chain of command is always in effect, especially in war. Hesitations will only destroy yourself. The movie tried so hard to preach and promote that there`s a morality guidance and consience in every soldier, while we all know that it`s BULL**** !!!!! The dialogue and lines in the script were more like from the 1980`s dialogue from serial television, it`s so ****in` stupid and unfunny. They even add half hour of useless scene in Thailand, simply because they don`t know what to do or have any idea to add into this movie. Hollidays in Thailand in a millitary movie, what the **** am I watchin` here ?
In short, Cohen ( the same guy who directed ****s like XXX and The Fast and the Furious ) should retired trying to direct. With Foxx and Biel, he should`ve done a better job. Cohen should try makin` kid-movies, cos` that`s what Stealth is a ll about, and action movie with kiddy dialogue, kiddy plot, kiddy romance, and a kiddy ending. This movie is for kids under the age of 10, I find it hard to see a 10 year old kid or over would enjoy the ride in this movie . . .
