I noticed there wasn't a thread about this already, so I decided to open one. Lyrics have always been important to me in music, and it is what usually makes me really like certain songs.
On that note, I'd like for you to post songs which have great lyrics, in your opinion, whether it's their humor, or their comedic value, the whole song, or just a phrase in it. Share your thoughts.
Here are some of my favorites:
Foo Fighters - Everlong Especially "And I wonder, when I sing along with you, if everything could ever be this good forever."
Dave Lindholm - Pieni ja hento ote He's a Finnish singer-songwriter, and as most of his songs, this is beautiful from the start to finish, but I especially like this part: "Pidän sinusta siinä kaikki, pitääkö se todistaa tuhansilla sanoilla?", which can be translated into "I like you, that's all. Do I have to prove it with a thousand words?"
U2 - Crumbs From Your Table Mostly the part in the bridge - "Where you live should not decide whether you live or whether you die."
U2 - Miracle Drug
U2 - Sometimes You Can't Make It On Your Own
Leonard Cohen - Hallelujah Quite possibly the most beautiful song ever written.
Simon and Garfunkel - Bridge Over Troubled Water There's just something so powerful about this.
Radiohead - Creep I guess I don't need to say anything about this.
Just to get it started. I left most of the obvious ones out of the list, but feel free to post them, of course. I'll probably post more later, too, as I come across some.
