For you Fifa2000 fans, most of you have probably seen or use galahs 3D update.
Well, I was one of the lucky people who got to beta test one of his previous updates. For reasons unknown (most likely I didn't contribute to its develpment) I am not officially a tester of the latest update. This annoyed me as I actually use the beta file we were given to test rather than his official release when I play.
It has extra features that never made it into the released version. They are alittle unstable but the extra performance they offered is worth the occassional hang-ups and freezes.
Well as I was trying to say, galah posts his betas on his website. Silly him, he posted his update under the same file name as his last beta. Therefor use the previous address from his last beta to access the latest beta version.
I've got to say, it seems to be an interesting beta. It has direct 9 optimizations, mmx and pentium 4 optimisation and better tripple buffering options plus the latest dx6z.dll file. It also allows some tweaking I think.
I am not sure if telling you guys this is against the forum policy, but I know there is such an huge interest in this patch (its in the top 10 of downloads). I believe galah is being pig-headed by not allowing us all to give input into its development.
Steps to use the beta.
- You need a zip program such as pkzip or winzip
- download the current full version of the update from www.fifa2001.com downloads section. Its in the top 10 downloads for Fifa2000.
- Install the update in your fifa2000 folder.
- Now download the beta from:
http://www.geocities.com/burntbranch/fifa/b.html
- Click on the link GALAHs
- extract the beta into your Fifa2000 folder.
- open d3d9.dll with notepad and edit some of the variables. Read the included files, they tell you basically what you need to do.
However, I'm not sure if all the files are here or not. Last time galah e-mailed me a file that was needed to activate the patch. I think however all the updates will work except maybe the direct 9 ones. He mentions something about a Direct 9 emulation. Maybe you guys know what this means.
I think the dx6 patch can be used in Fifa2001. It may need to be renamed or something however as I couldn't find a dx6 file.
Anyway, try the file its pretty cool.
